Cash Ressies with AP discount

Although I have booked many times doing the cash basis for the weekend, I have never done it by using the AP discount. I have a reservation in Oct. for 10 days, Fri. & Sat. being cash. I originally booked at full price (member discount wasn't available when I booked). I then called recently and the discount was available, so I got that discount. Then last week, I called CRO and they gave me a better discount with the AP. I explained my reservation at OKW was points to cash for weekend and then back to points, and that I didn't want to mess up my reservation. They said no problem just make sure to call Member Services and cancel the weekend with them. I did this, but the CM at Member Services told me to be very careful to make sure that CMO linked or red flagged so that I didn't get treated like different reservations. He said if it isn't red flagged or noted that I could end up moving. I told him I had told CRO, but he said to call back and reconfirm and be very clear. Since I have never done a cash ressie with my AP only through MS along with my points, I was wondering if anyone has had any kind of problem. I definitely don't want to screw up my reservation. Is there anything other than what I'm doing that I need to do. Thanks

About 5 days before your trip, I would send a fax or call the room controller and list both reservation numbers to make sure they have them linked in the resort computer.

Are the cash nights in the middle of your trip? If yes, were you able to keep the same reservation # for DVC or did they have to split it into 2 reservation #'s?

It is in the middle of my reservation and what usually happens is they do three reservation numbers. First points, then cash, then back to points, but they always link them. So, I do have more than one reservation number, but I have never had a problem in the past, even when I've gone from 1 bedroom to 2 bedrooms using points and cash because we have had times when someone has joined us in the middle of our vacation. I will definitely take your advice and call five days ahead. Thanks for the info.

Was your original cash thru CRO or member services? I will also be doing the same thing as you in July 2003 and I am not sure where to reserve the cash room thru. Any advice and experience would be appreciated. I will be making my reservations tomorrow so hopefully I talk to the right people.

When I make my reservations I use points for during the week and make the weekend reservations for cash and I do it all through Member Services so that I can be sure they are linked and available. When I make the cash weekend reservation I always ask if the member discount is available. It usually is not if it's far out from the date. Then I occassionally check back to see if it becomes available. It usually does become available. I have been doing it this way since we bought in 93. This is the first time I have called CRO and asked about the AP discount. Refer to my earlier post for details. You should definitely book the weekend when you make the rest of your reservation, otherwise you run the risk that it wouldn't be available. Good luck and if you have any other questions, let me know.
