Cash Reservation before DVC

We usually plan out our trips well in advance, so we have hardly no experience with wait lists, cash reservations, etc.

But, we've got a trip coming up where we couldn't get the first night, so we waitlisted. But, we were able to get a cheap cash only room rate, so we did that.

So, we have 2 different reservation numbers. I thought MS could link those 2, and handle all the Magical Express stuff for us. But, when I called today, MS told me I had to go through general reservations for our "inbound" ME, but that MS could handle my "outbound" ME. She was cordial, but not that nice, and really not that helpful.

Was I just expecting too much? Is this the normal way these things are handled?

Thanks,
W

Sounds like you booked the cash night through DRC / CRO. If so, the MS CM gave you correct information. They can't help you with reservations they didn't make.

Had you booked the cash night through MS, the reservations could have been linked and MS would handle all of the ME details.

But, we wouldn't have been able to get the discounted rate for the room only reservation if we had booked through MS, or at least that's what MS told us.

So, I guess my savings are worth the hassle.

I guess I just expected a little more "concierge-type" service with my membership.

And you may have to move when your DVC reservation starts.

The technology just isn't there for DVC to access a CRO reservation. They are separate systems. IT is not one of Disney's strong suits.

DVC rooms and Disney rooms are a completely different set of inventory so . it is sort of like booking at the Marriott and the Hilton and expecting one or the other to make arrangements for the other.

The good news is that you were able to save and use a discounted code for your first night!

Have a great trip!!!
