I've got a question about using cash register reciepts. I have our reciepts from our free dinning and was going to just use those to remember what we ate...I put them into a pocket that I made. Then I got to thinking, will those reciepts fade? What do ya'll do? Should I just copy them? Incorpirate them into a journal?

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas!

for my '05 trip, I made a pocket page to hold the receipts...
something along the lines of the mastercard commercials...
$$$...priceless!

If they are printed on that shiny, smooth paper, (sort of like fax paper), then they will DEFINITELY fade (and fast!). If they are on regular type paper, then they probably won't fade as quickly. If you are really concerned about it, I would definitely make copies of them, or at the very least, spray them with Archival Mist to help protect them. HTH......................P

I like the idea of copying or scanning them so you can change the size if you need to.

Will you show us your work when done?

It is highly likely that they will almost all fade eventually. I saved receipts from a trip I took to Utah in '98 and nearly all of them have faded since. :sad2:

I save all my receipts two. Here are some ideas I may be using:

- Scan receipts and make background paper to mat photos on for a layout just on dining

- Do a layout on what things cost at Disney so that twenty years from now we can laugh at how cheap it was back then. You could always do a slider or hidden element with the costs in case you don't want to advertise what you spent on anything.

Have a great day everyone!

I was told by a lady who was the owner of a copy store and a scrapper, that you should copy all newspaper clippings, maps, etc onto acid-free cardstock using a color copier. She said that the color cartridges contain ink that is more stable than just black ink. I have done this for a few years now and they all look perfect----however the original newsprint is very faded. I am glad I took her advice. I would think the same would work for receipts and so much cheaper than Archival Mist!!

Yes, they will fade.. I was cleaning the bottom of my purse the other day..and I found a receipt that was already fading... Checked in on a receipt that I had in my wallet for a major appliance.. it too was fading.. So, I have now taken all major purchase receipts and copied them onto acid-free paper to keep them.. I will also being doing this to any receipts I keep for our vacations! I will definitely be copying my Cricut receipt onto acid free paper!!
