Just wondering if anyone has ever paid cash for a BWV 2-BR and what the rate was? I'm looking into a trip with a bunch of friends. I own at BWV and we would need a 2BR from Thurs through Tues. nights. I have enough points to cover the Thurs, Sun, Mon and Tues nights, if the friends (non-members) cover the Fri. and Sat. nights with cash. Just trying to get a ballpark idea of what that rate might be. Thanks!

Depending on season the rates are:

$545 for Value Season
$705 for Regular Season
$890 for Peak Season
$1010 for Holiday Season

These rates are the rack rates and are per night. You might be able to snag a member discount of 25% off for those nights, but those are limited in availability.

Not always for Friday and Saturday nights. If she could get the 25% member discount, cash would be cheaper for those nights. With a member discount, they will link the reservations so it will be seemless.

Depends on when you are going. Sometimes Fri and Sat can be 60-70 pts which is 600 or 700 dollars.

I hesitate to use terms like "always" and "never" regarding this issue.

We went to OKW last week on a cash member discount ressie, made three weeks in advance. W,Th,Fri, Sat was $255 a night at the member rate. Total cost plus tax for the 1BR was about $1,150.

Had we been able to rent points on such short notice, $10 a point would have been $1,400...$8 a point, $1,120. Hardly worth the hassle, IMHO.

I got an AP rate of $301 incl tax for a Friday night in May for an OKW 1 bedroom. It would have been 48 points. So I would have had to find someone to rent them to me for less than $6.27 a point to make renting less. Renting is really worth it for Sunday to Thursday, but maybe not for Friday and Saturday.

I know what they list as the rates for the different seasons, but they do change as the rooms sell out. We have paid the 25% discount rate years ago, and it was around 450 for a two bedroom at the BW when the site said 650. I've called down to the front desk to check rates for additional nights in the past, and was told 850 for the two bedroom, while the sites say 525. It all depends how many rooms are available. Your' best bet is to call, and call early. Good Luck.

Thanks for all the replies! We are looking at January '06, 2 BR BW view at BWV. The Thurs, Sun, Mon and Tues. would cost me 120 points. But the Fri and Sat nights are 60 points each (120 total). I just can't swing that.

The trip would include me (no kids), my bestfriend and her two kids (my godchildren) and another friend and her two kids. So if each of them paid for one of the weekend nights and I covered the rest in points, this would work.

At $10 a point, that's $600 each, so the cash rate of $545, with a hopefully 25% discount bringing that down to $408.75 is looking pretty good. With 11% tax that comes to about $453.71, divided by the 6 nights there comes to about $75.62 a night for each of them.

I forgot to ask, is there a different cash price for standard vs. boardwalk view, or is it all the same price? And, do they know at the 11 month window whether or not they have the weekend nights available for cash, and at the 25% discount?

It has been reported that you cannot get the boardwalk view with cash. It's reserved for points reservations.

There is only 1 rate for cash reservations, they can put you anywhere. You may run into a problem with availability for the member discount. I would ask member services the best way to book it so that you don't have to move for the weekend nights.

I have one cash night at BCV reserved for our upcoming November trip and I have been told by MS that they never offer AP rates for the villas only member discount rates. Have I been misinformed?

You can only get AP rates through CRO or the new online program, maybe that is why MS does not know about it. I definitely got an AP rate last year for OKW. For the heck of it, I went into the new online AP "best rate program" I put in Saturday 11/26, which is the day I arrive, and got AP rates for a BCV 2 bedroom ($719 incl tax), a BWV studio ($283), OKW 1 bedroom ($351), VWL studio ($272), SSR studio ($233), SSR 1 bedroom ($351), SSR 2 bedroom ($551). MS is definitely misinformed.

Thanks DebbieB. So if I was able to still get the night at an AP rate through CRO would I have to change rooms because they can't link the reservation to my points reservation made through MS?

MS never does offer AP rates as those are only available thru CRO. If you have reserved a preferred view room thru MS, you may not be able to link a cash reservation made thru CRO. As pointed out, boardwalk view rooms are usually NOT available thru CRO and again, you would not be able to link that thru CRO (and it probably wouldn't be available with the DVC discount anyway).

The resort will do it's best to keep you in the same room for two reservations, but they can't guarantee that and you will at least need to check-in and get new keys on the days the reservations change. If reserved thru MS (with or without the discount) the reservations will be linked and you will not have to change rooms or get new keys during the stay.

Thanks Doc. We'll be at the BCV not at BWV so does this make it different? :flower:
I'm not Doc, LOL, but I can tell you that what Doc posted applies to all the DVC resorts.

FWIW, my understanding is that at the BCV, you cannot reserve a dedicated 2 bedroom unit with two queens in the second bedroom for cash - those are reserved for members statying on points.

Best wishes -
