Question: my daughter is currently in Disney World and just sent me a text stating that all parks are now cashless? Can anyone please verify this. I have an upcoming trip, and I use cash while I am there. I was just there in September, and I was able to use both cash and card. Thanks,

  • Starting October 8, 2025, select outdoor snack carts (e.g., popcorn stands near EPCOT's Creations shop, stands near Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, and Ice Cold Hydraulics in Hollywood Studios) now require credit/debit cards, Disney gift cards, or mobile payments like Apple Pay. These are marked with "Cashless Location" signs.
  • Merchandise carts have been cashless for years, but this is the first major push for food/beverage spots. Most quick-service dining, table-service restaurants, and shops still take cash.
  • Workaround: If you only have cash, buy a Disney gift card at a nearby merchandise store to use at these spots.

There are certain carts etc that I do think are cashless but not all of WDW.

Did she tell you exactly where she was trying to buy something that was cashless?

They are currently in MK. She heard that food, popcorn and drinks are cashless not sure about stores. Like I said, we were just there in the middle of Sept and I used cash and no one stopped me. Thank you for this update.

Can they buy Disney gift cards somewhere? The Hess station near BWV and the other near DS?

Edit: I don't know for sure if they have them anyone know?

It’s not all of the food, just snack carts according to what I have read. She can go to a quick service restaurant or buy snacks in the regular gift shops with cash and it should not be an issue.

I hate to see them doing this though. It is so much easier to budget with cash, and you don’t run the risk of coming home with a gift card balance you can’t spend anywhere else.

Yes, they sell gift cards in the parks.

Cashless parks
  • Six Flags: All Six Flags parks have gone cashless and only accept credit or debit cards, according to the official Six Flags website and Facebook posts.

  • United Parks: This includes all parks in the SeaWorld Entertainment group, such as SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and Sesame Place, as mentioned in various forums.

  • Hersheypark: This park is completely cashless, note sources on Facebook.

  • Cedar Point: This Cedar Fair park is now cashless, according to a Facebook post.

  • Knott's Berry Farm: This is another park that has gone cashless, according to explore.com.

  • Other examples: Other parks that have adopted cashless systems include Kennywood, Kings Dominion, and Holiday World
Some part of me dislikes the idea of my cash not being accepted as payment but considering the methods we usually use at WDW this is not much of an actual inconvenience to us. Using our phone wallets and magic band linked to room is our preference. Carrying cash or buying Disney giftcards opens more risks and headaches around getting lost. We bring some cash for tips at the resort and during travel - that’s about it lately.

I love the cashless trend, though I have to admit it can be inconvenient at times. It’s cheaper for companies to cover credit card fees than to manage and store cash.

Is she staying on property?
If so she can charge to her room and then pay at the front desk of her resort without having to buy a gift card and have funds left on the card.

The new policies for snack carts rolled out with the price increases a couple days ago.

Cedar Point and Knott's Berry Farm are now part of Six Flags. It's no surprise they follow the Six Flags rules. The Legoland parks are also cashless.
