We have booked a room on cash with the member discount for Saturday before our Sun-Fri stay on points. We have decided to add another night to our trip and would like it to be the Friday before our cash night stay. Does anyone know if MS will automatically give us the discounted rate for Friday since we have it already for Saturday?

Thanks for your help.

I don't think it would be automatic, it would be subject to availability.

What date, resort and room size are you looking for? It's easier to get on a Friday or Saturday night.

We are looking for a studio at VWL for Friday, May 25th. At the time I booked the Saturday I wanted a 2BR (which is what we have on points for the remainder of the week) but a member discount was only available for a studio.

Maybe I'll get lucky and the 2BR will now be available at a discounted rate...I'll try tomorrow.

I have been trying for 3 months now to get a discounted rate on a 2 bdrm the weekend before that 18-20. No dice. I even had one cm laugh at me when she told me no discount. :confused3 I just keep calling back and hoping I get lucky!! :wizard:

The only way I can see it happening is if you go for Saratoga Springs. There is so much availability there that it isn't even funny. Add to that the fact that they are still building and opening new rooms and you get a constant influx of new inventory ready to be rented out...

Good luck,
Joshua

discounts are not automatic, you have to call back to confirm. I currently have cash nights for the first weekend in March and need to call back to obtain a discount. (still not available, but will keep trying!)

go ahead and book the full rack cash rate to secure the room and if a discount becomes available you will need to call back to get it.

Thanks everyone for your responses.:) I was able to call MS today and add a second cash night in the studio at the discounted rate. The 2BR is still not being offered at a discount...from the sound of things and considering it is a holiday weekend it probably won't become available. I'm just happy we could get the 2nd night in the studio at a discount also.

I just called and asked about a cash reservation I have without the discount. I called to see if one was available and was told if there wasn't one when I booked it there wouldn't be one now .

I read here on these boards something to the contrary . Should I call and speak with someone else to see if there is one available or not?

I think it would be worth a call back. One thing to consider when calling is that not all size units are available at a discount at the same time (atleast in my case they weren't) so ask about other size units also.

Good luck.:goodvibes

How good is the cash discount?
I booked a Saturday night on points, and a Friday night at another resort. What is a typical studio cost with the discount? Resort doesn't really matter.
I never even considered a cash discount...

The member discount is 25% off rack rate...so, in our case, a studio that rents for $349/night without a discount is $261 with the discount.

I have been told on many occasions (including yesterday) to continue to call back to see if a discount is available on a cash reservation. They are released based on availability so if you are going during a peak time you are less likely to get it and just the opposite.
good luck!

I have booked a cash night for VWL (studio) on Saturday,March 10 and the rate is $311.25 plus tax.
I have another studio booked @ SSR on Saturday,July 14th and the rate is $209.25.

I don't know if this includes the 25% discount but I will be calling to check.

Also remember that March and July are two different seasons with different rack rates.
March is Peak; while July is Value. A studio at SSR is also a different rate then VWL.

Does anyone know if AP discounts apply to DVC rooms? I split my stay because the cash/member discount wasn't available but I would like to try to stay at the same resort without switching, if possible.

I do think you can catch a AP rate on a DVC room if available.

Since the AP discount is arranged through CRO, you have a very good chance of having to check out of your DVC point room and move to the AP CRO Room. And of course checking out again from the AP CRO room back to your DVC room.
I wonder if the hassel is worth the savings?
