I was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this?

My step son was just in an accident at the weekend, i think his ford ranger is going to be written off. My question is can he go trade his 2000 ford ranger in for the cash for clunkers program, even though it is smashed up on the one side? It is driveable

It has to have been registered and insured for the last year. It does not matter the condition of the vehicle so long as it is drivable. We are trading in a 1992 F150 that has RUST HOLES in it and they're taking it. :lmao:

FYI - If the truck he is trading in is a work truck then there are different limits on the mileage than the limits for a car so be aware of this when doing the trade to maximize the amount he gets. Check out the cash for clunkers website.

Also, He may not be able to collect on the insurance AND the Cash for Clunkers thing. Double check on this.

The car/truck also has to be on the list of cars that officially get below 18 mpg. Believe it or not, my DH's 1995 Chrysler Le Baron doesn't qualify!

wont the insurance agency want it since they'll be paying you for it?

I think the insurance company would only give him $1500, so it would be better for him to trade it in right? Can he do that?

Where do i find out if his truck is on the list of clunkers?

Actually, most Ford Rangers do qualify if they are 4WD and are built after 1990 and before 2003.
