Cash Discount Inventory... There is hope!!

Just wanted to pass along the notion that there is hope if you are trying to make a member-discounted cash ressie and are told there is "no inventory available"!

A little more than seven months ago, I wanted to make a six-nights-on-points-one-night-on-cash ressie but was told that there was no available inventory for the member discounted cash night. So, I made the ressie for that one cash night at "rack rate" and waited. I called back a few times over the past few months with no luck.

I called this morning and the "inventory" for the cash discount was now available (now that we are within 30 days of check-in, I'm thinking.)

So... just wanted you to know that it is a good idea to keep calling MS as you get closer to check-in if you really want that discount!

I am in the process of buying at SSR. We already had plans to stay at POR for 2 nights prior to our DCL cruise in December. My guide was able to get us the 2nd night at SSR, but we will need to waitlist for the 1st night.

If I can make a cash reservation at a discount, that might solve my problem. Can you tell me how much the discount is off of the rack rates?

True, I did take a chance and booked the one night at rack rate, hoping that more cash-discounted inventory would become available within 30 days of check-in. (And thankfully, it did.)

MS booked a new ressie for that night, then cancelled the old one. Then they linked the points and cash ressies together so we don't have to move mid-week.

JsMom2, if your waitlist on points doesn't come through, perhaps the member-discounted cash inventory will. *Unlike waitlisting, however, your ressie will not just automatically change... you have to call as you get closer to your check-in date.
