Cash Bar - Open Bar??

I agree it is neat to read about everyone's traditions.

The Dollar Dance is where ther bride and groom go out on the dance floor and one of their attendants goes with them to hold the money. Guests are then given the chance for a mnimum of $1 (I got some $5's from uncles) to dance shortly with the bride or groom. Usually long enough for a hug, quick congrats, a laugh about something, then on to the next. It's really a great way to talk to the couple.

I think you'd get a kick out of it. Usually you'll see the bridesmaids and groomsmen gather in a group to do their dances with the bride & groom. It can go on for a long time, which is the other reason to have the MOH & BM collecting the money so they can tap the shoulder and get the guest to finish their dance so the next person gets their turn.

Oh, and most times, the keg is behind the bar, the bartender still serves it, the guests just don't have to pay for it. It's not like the keg is in a trash can with ice and there's 10 guys sitting around it with red Dixie cups. :rotfl2:

You spoiled the image for me! Red cups with your name written in marker would be so much fun. A keg with a bartender is just not the same!! :rotfl:

Well, I've been to quite a few weddings in the Midwest where the receptions were held at the local fire station, American Legion Post, Moose Lodge, town hall, bingo parlor, and so on. At those receptions the kegs of beer were sitting in large, metal tubs that were stocked with ice (gotta keep that beer cold). And the plastic cups were clear, red, blue, white, and every other color of the rainbow (the guests usually had to serve themselves). Those were some of the most fun weddings that I have ever been to. The guests (and bride & groom) had the times of their lives, ~sigh.~

My vow renewal’s dinner party began with cocktails inside the “Gangster” area of the Great Movie Ride. A “speakeasy” was set up in this location for us. Our wait staff was attired in pinstriped suits, thus keeping with the gangster theme.

My guests drank beer from cans that were hidden inside paper bags. They also drank wine that was served in black coffee mugs and mixed drinks that were served in mason jars. You just can’t get any classier than that.

Here are a few photos that I thought you might enjoy viewing:

...I asked, "Can we have the cans on the back of the limo with the Just Married! sign?!" She never expectred those word to come out of my mouth...

Believe it or not, I have seen photos of a FTW where the vehicle had shoes & tin cans tied to its back. I also think there was a “Just Married” sign either attached to the bumper or written in soap on the windows (it was a few years ago and my memory is a little fuzzy). The photos were darling.

I know your photos will be just as priceless! I love it when people personalize their FTW!
