I agree it is neat to read about everyone's traditions.
The Dollar Dance is where ther bride and groom go out on the dance floor and one of their attendants goes with them to hold the money. Guests are then given the chance for a mnimum of $1 (I got some $5's from uncles) to dance shortly with the bride or groom. Usually long enough for a hug, quick congrats, a laugh about something, then on to the next. It's really a great way to talk to the couple.
I think you'd get a kick out of it. Usually you'll see the bridesmaids and groomsmen gather in a group to do their dances with the bride & groom. It can go on for a long time, which is the other reason to have the MOH & BM collecting the money so they can tap the shoulder and get the guest to finish their dance so the next person gets their turn.
Oh, and most times, the keg is behind the bar, the bartender still serves it, the guests just don't have to pay for it. It's not like the keg is in a trash can with ice and there's 10 guys sitting around it with red Dixie cups.
