Casey's Is Ruined For Me!

There was a thread about this a while back - titled "Casey's Buns"( ) Anyway, alot of us in that thread emailed WDW our complaints about switching to the wheat buns. It seems we all got the standard automated response: Thank you for emailing....WDW cares about what you think....blah, blah, blah.

It was suggested that WDW would feel the impact of our dissatisfaction MORE if we returned our food to the counter if we did not feel like it was what we ordered - or expected. Certainly, if many people start bringing the food back, someone in charge would have to take notice! I think that would be more effective than just boycotting those items.

You'll never convince me that WDW cares about our health as long as they offer a dining plan that includes 2 desserts a day. I have a major sweet tooth & 2 desserts a day, on vacation, are about my norm. I'm not foolish enough to believe it's healthy though. IMHO, something else is fueling the changes. My bet would be money. Although wheat bread isn't usually cheaper than white, a lucrative deal could change that.

What about the people who have allergies to seeds, nuts, etc?? No more Casey's for them and no more pizza or burgers at WDW?? I do not get it, it is a potential legal case for sure. I hope they have posted at all the restaurants for those who have allergies to these type of things that the bread now contains what may cause you to have an attack.

Ditto... I have Ulcerative Colitis and things like certian types of seeds and whole wheat will set off a reaction. I don't want to be sick durring my trip. So I guess it is either bring buns from home or skip things all together :(

This is absolutely ridiculous. My Fiance is highly allergic to whole wheat and will have a reaction in seconds if he injests it, that's why we go for pizza and hotdogs/hamburgers, because their safe from it. Apparently this is not the case now. I can't imagine Disneys reaction if he would end up on the ground right in front of Casey's. Try explaining that to a number of young children.

What is Disney thinking?

I LIKE to eat rubbish - surely I have a right, Disney?

I'm with you Mackey. I would really hate to be stabbing my friend with and epi-pen on my Disney Vacation, because of her nut allergy when she ordered pizza. Whole weat, whole grain, whatever, that isn't what pizza crust dough is made of. It's not really pizza if you don't use plain bleach white flour dough.

I'm an American and I have the right to eat nothing but junk my whole life if I so choose. If I don't want to take care of my self, I'm not going to, and no amount of health nazi's or taking away my non-healthy options is going to make a difference. It's time people learned that you can't protect a person from themselves.

It does seem a little un-American :goodvibes !

So, what would be his options, bunless franks, burgers, & hopefully chicken fingers, if they do not dip them in whole wheat breading now. Honestly, it is ridiculous. Why don't they have a choice of buns. Seems simple to me. I think what is next. Tofu franks, and burgers. It is like come on Disney.

Whole wheat pizza, with seeds. Yuck.

If your fiance, ate the bread. Disney would probably claim he knew what he was ingesting.

I just got a thought, why not bring a pack of buns, from home. Into the parks. Although inconvenient. It may be worthwhile. Even though some would think tacky, not worth a health issue.

Please tell me they won't go TOTALLY HEALTHY and outlaw funnel cakes?!?!!?!?!?!?!

I agree with you... white bread is not going to hurt you on vacation. Especially with all the walking you do at WDW!

I like wheat bread but I agree Disney is way out of line with this health craze!! Offer some healthy choices instead and let those who want wheat bread have it and those who don't have good ol' white !! I would prolly go for wheat but I don;t think everyone should!!

I sympathize with everyone with the allergy issues. Hot dogs and pizza used to be safe for me too. I am allergic to tree nuts and sesame. On my last trip in January I already knew the hot dog buns were not safe, but had no idea about the pizza. One night we got pizza at Pinnochio's and that is when I found out. I read the ingredient book and at that time I saw NOTHING about any seeds etc. After taking a bite I saw some black seeds :scared1: . Being that it was dark in there I did not know what it was. I stopped eating the pizza immediately and spent the next few hours worried I was about to have an attack! Luckily the seeds were not sesame and I was ok. From now on I will have to avoid the pizza too. Hope they have updated the ingredient book for people who are allergic to whatever seeds are in the pizza crust.

The buns at caseys are still soft, still squishy, with itty bitty flecks of acutal whole wheat. If it's more than 10% whole wheat, I'll eat my mouse ears (which happen to be a fantasic source of fiber.)

They are different, but not end-of-the-world, walt-turning-in-his-cryogenic-chamber, mobilize-the-board-of-directors different.

LMAO! :lmao: :lmao:

I wish Disney didn't shove these healty things down our throats. We aren't idiots and we don't need them switching the stuff we eat without telling us.

Whatever we ate in January was the pits. We had these new buns with a hot dog from Casey's and a burger from whatever that CS joint is outside of Pirates. The buns just crack and completely fall apart.

And we like whole-grain breads, as well as white breads! This isn't about healthy vs. nonhealthy or white vs. wheat for us. What we don't like are cheap, lamo substitutes, and that's exactly what these were.

I agree with Tarheelfan a page or two before me. I don't think this has anything to do with being healthy. Why would WDW take the lettuce and tomato off the Figero fries but leave the bacon and cheese if they were concerned about our health? Why would they even offer a hot dog or cheeseburger if they were concerned about our health? Nah, this boils down to some kind of vendor deal, IMO. I know I've tried those cheap, "Looks and tastes like white but is really wheat" substitutes, and the bags they come in are better-tasting than the product.

Aside from Epcot, we're avoiding CS our next trip. Thank goodness we're staying offsite in a condo where we can make our own large breakfasts. We buy or bring snacks in and just plan for offsite dinners. It's a shame, for sure. We stopped eating at a lot of TS places over the past couple years because the quality has gone down (as well as portion size, menu creativity, etc). The one saving grace was CS options were bountiful and actually quite good -- with the exception of maybe MGM. Now we're seeing the CS that was offered in the '70s and '80s.

YUK. :scared:

Yes it is yet another Casey's buns thread.. and can I add it makes me absolutely bonkers when I go to put on my traditional mustard and relish and the bun is already split in two pieces.. All I did was take it from the person giving it to me.. unwrap it to put on the condiments and it is broken in two already. I do not think so and I will not be eating there anymore and the more Disney forces their choices on me, the more I will choose to eat elsewhere.

Hey we can always walk to Picabu's, do they have hot dogs.. not a Disney restaurant so I am sure they are not jamming wholewheat down out throats..

What is next.. think of this.. omg, Schoolbread made with wholewheat.. At French bakery, croissants made with wholewheat flour, all pastries made with wholewheat flour and caraway seeds..Now I am even laughing at how ridiculous this is.. it is selective wholewheat substituting....DISNEY, WHY???????????????????

I have a theory and may be wrong but doesn't wheat bread taste fresher longer than white? All back to the money ;) . If they could serve it a day or two longer than the white breads then why not switch.

BTW I want my white bread back. I do not eat wheat bread with hot dogs

Uh-Oh. Now I'll have to remember to ask if Caraway seeds are in buns or pizza crust when I'm there. I'm allergic to them.

Maybe I'll actually lose weight at WDW for once. Salads here I come.

This is really uncalled for. Someone is bound to be allergic to wheat or the seeds in the buns, dont realize its in there, end up eating it and next thing you know Disney is getting sued because someone died from a food allergy. All it takes is 1 bite of something your allergic to and it could end up killing you. And what if you dont know if your allergic to it or not. You can become allergic to stuff over night. Back in 2000, one day Im eating tomatoes and feel fine and the next day Im at the doctors and my doctor tells me im allergic to tomatoes. Im not allergic to those seeds in the rolls or wheat - not that I know of anyway, I dont ever eat that stuff, but I dont like it. I can only hope that Disney get their act together and bring back the regular white buns and regular pizza dough. Otherwise, if I order a hamburger and see its on a new bun, that burger is going right back where it came from and I will demand a refund and leave.
