Casey's Buns

I just got an email yesterday, thanking me for contacting them. It also contained a name and phone # for me to call to discuss further. I'm curious about what will happen when I call this person. I'll let you know!

Please let us know what you find out! I was not left a number or name to call.

Has anyone been lately with an update?

I sent my email a couple of weeks ago and am waiting for a response. I included my phone number, so if I hear anything I'll post it.

This is what I got today....

Seems like a standard and stock response. They didn't address my issue. If I'm allowed to post her name and number, I'm happy to do so, I didn't want to get in trouble though.

I just got back from disney last week and every bun I got at every CS place was a wheat bun, adult and kids meals alike, im not much for wheat buns but I really couldnt taste the differents, if I couldnt see that they were wheat I wouldnt have known. personally the last thing im going to complain about while at disney is wheat over white.

Well apparently I should have just read above my question! Here you answered it before I asked it.

The wheat buns at Casey's appear white, but are truly wheat. Recent reports are that they aren't falling apart and the world moves on in perfect harmony. :goodvibes

Thought of this thread today as I pulled out of Wendy's and started eating my burger that was served to me on a "Delux Wheat Bun"

If I wanted healthy I sure wouldn't be choosing Wendys, and if I did, I wouldn't be ordering a burger!

Who's gonna be the first rocket scientest to open a chain of restaurants that cook fries in lard, and serve burgers and dogs in plain old unhealthy white buns!:confused3

I emailed in about this also when I first read about it here. I'm not happy about the prospect of getting down there in May and finding wheat bread everywhere. With anything other than ham, wheat bread makes me nauseous. Not figuratively, literally. So unless I want hot dogs without buns or burgers without buns, I am out of luck on my upcoming vacation in terms of those items unless I go (*le gasp*) offsite to get them. A point I noted in my email. ;) I think it's great they're offering healthier items in WDW but 1. if you're getting a hot dog, you're not that worried about it being a healthy meal 2. people like myself like to splurge/indulge on vacation and 3. healthier things should be an option, not something that's forced on everyone. Using healthier cooking oils and so on is one thing; but for pete's sake, leave the hot dogs, desserts, popular entrees, etc. the heck alone! :headache:

I got a response today asking me for my phone number. Will let y'all know if I hear anything.

I agree, and I disagree with this statement. I believe that unhealthy choices, like a hot dog, can be made better for you when balanced with a healthier option like a wheat bun. Just like I look at a Big Mac Value Meal. I know that some laugh at me for getting it with a diet Coke or water to 'save' on calories. The number of calories in a Big Mac Value Meal with Regular Coke is 1,320. With a Diet Coke that meal is now 1,110. Does this make it health food - NO!! Does this decrease the calories of this meal by 16% - sure does! Less aerobics for me to work off the meal? You bet! Could I have made a better meal choice overall - you bet!

Prior to exercising more, I justified a lot of my unhealthy holiday eating with figuring how much I walk at Disney (honestly believing that I was burning many of these calories)Then I found out that I am burning more like 75-90 calories per solid hour of walking. Guess I need to still work out on vacation.

Do I think that health needs to be forced on everyone at Disney? I don't. I'd love to see an option. However, if they can't offer an option - then a white bun with wheat grains in it (which sounds like what this 'wheat' bun is) would be my preference. To me it's a compromise, it's white in taste and appearance, but has the healthier whole grains in it. Some people coming back are saying that they're white because they can't tell the difference between a white bun and this modified wheat bun.

I guess I just believe that healthy eating is all about moderation. There is a middle ground to me between fun and good for me. This, to me, is a nice way of bringing healthy in and still letting me indulge in a hot dog.

I think they should offer an option. And I still expect it's more of a "wheat-flavored" bun as opposed to a whole-wheat bun. If you buy wheat bread at the store, it may have very little nutritional content. Whole-wheat is a different story.

::yes:: I just spent a long weekend at WDW and paid extra attention to the buns. Thought I'd give 'em one more chance to prove me wrong. They failed...

Cosmic Ray's - "wheat" buns on both the chili-cheese dog and regular hot dog.

Tangierine Cafe - "wheat" bun on hamburgers.

Listen, I'm all for choices and options. But WDW's "wheat" is NOT a healthier option - it's your basic Wonder Bread "wheat", full of sugar and devoid of whole grains - so please don't force it on me. My email will be going out today.

Wait, please say it isn't so. All the burgers, and dogs, are on wheat bread now.. Man, come on now. I cant have my burgers with white doughy bread. This is ridiculous. Where is the email that everyone is using to contact Disney?

I didn't figure it was whole wheat, that costs too much! Disney doesn't tend to go for the more expensive options. I found out when I first started losing weight (5 years ago now), that the wheat bread I was eating had almost no nutrition in it. If I'm going to eat less-than-healthy bread, I want it to taste good (and I want it to be soft, white bread). :)

Thanks for checking. I don't understand why Disney changed, since it wasn't a healthier switch.

I think it's rather funny to hear you all complain. I can't tell you the number of times on this board I've gotten people irritated with me because I feel that they should offer more vegetarian and healthier choices. Everyone always says "oh but they're not forcing you to eat it...you could eat somewhere else, or offsite...so stop complaining." But when it happens to you...the story is a bit different now isn't it? I guess it's just one of those walk a mile in my shoes situation.

Nice job! ;) What she said! I though I was the only DISer who felt this way!

I can see how some folks are used to certain traditions at WDW, or in general, (white buns for hot dogs are pretty standard in the USA) but some of the posts complaining that "Disney is FORCING me to eat healthy' crack me up!

My email will be going out today.
And you will be wasting your time. I e-mailed them. They waited 2 weeks to respond and asked me for my phone number. I gave it to them and they have not bothered to give me an answer or call me. What was the point of asking for a number if you are not going to call me? Others have received responses with no answer to the direct question. Again, this is not a difficult question to answer. I'm not asking for the recipe to the secret sauce. I just want to know if we will ever get regular buns.

Other than the look of the buns, I personally did not notice any difference in taste while I was being force-fed all that food in Disney.

Sorry folks, but if Disney is trying to make their food even a tiny bit healthier (I am not saying that they did!), they're certainly not FORCING it on you. Make another selection!

We used to eat at Tony's in the Magic Kingdom fairly often...then they changed the menu and took off some of the things we liked. I didn't complain...I just don't go there anymore. Same story with these rolls. If you don't like them, make another choice!

All this fuss over changing a hot dog bun...:lmao:

And I can't believe it's been going on this long!

I just called home to check messages. I had a very long one from someone at Disney about the buns. She said that they are changing over to wheat everywhere. :sad2: She thanked me for my comments and promised to look into the possibility of offering white as an option - but couldn't make any promises.

She also said she would pass on my request to give us a choice between appetizer and dessert with the DDP. Again, she didn't make any promises.

At least it seems like they are listening to the customers. Hopefully, if enough people complain we'll be able to get our white buns! :thumbsup2

Yes, I am having a tiff over the bun change. I like my doggies, and burgers on white bread!

Also, what about the people allergic to wheat bread?

Actually, I think this is a very constructive and informativethread. We see something, we are not happy about it and we are going through the proper methods to bring it to the attention of the TPTB at WDW. Why would that "crack you up" :confused3
