Is it possible that the defense asked for it because Casey wants to testify against their advice and they want to protect themselves so that she can never come back on them for allowing her to testify?

I watched her carefully and the reports from the doctors were definitely not to her liking so either they did not buy her act to them or she did not like the diagnosis that they had of her!
