Many people think that is the case. That either the trial would get overturned or his incompetence could lead to a mistrial and they are hoping the state of FL would offer a good plea deal instead of retrying the case.

I can see that happening, she might have 5 lawyers but if Baez won't let anyone else help with the case will that matter

Well the other attorneys have done cross examinations. So there are enough competent lawyers to do it effectively. I hope Ashton will ask this man how can you extract dna if the skin is all gone and all it is skeletal reamins. Would they not wash away having been in a flooded area?

Linda Kenney Baden (as well as her esteemed husband ) has been all over the TV knocking the prosecution's case and calling all of their scientific evidence "junk science". I wonder what she will say about the touch DNA guy's conclusions.

Linda Kenny Baden's voice is like nails on a chalkboard. If maybe she just SPOKE her opinions, I'd listen. But she shrieks and yells, and just about foams at the mouth like a rabid dog. IMHO. No hate intended.

But wouldn't that be cutting off his nose to spite his face? Why risk your future as a lawyer with one client? If it was overturned and Baez deemed incompetent, he might not have any clients in the future. I think Baez is so arrogant and smug that he thinks he can charm anyone, including the judge. That he really thinks he is doing a great job.

Oh yes, Aunt Clara was a sweetheart. I loved Bewitched! (but only with Darrin #1 ) I'd watch reruns, too, but certainly not instead of the trial!

I have read somewhere that is a very difficult thing to prove to be ineffective. I believe it was bill shafer who was commenting that with the violations it would be Mason who would be hit with it as he is the experienced trial lawyer.

He is very incompetent. I think he should be thinking about this young lady in the jail with this same story and how this is out and in the open right now. He has no clue yet what the state has found out about it yet. And if anything may come back and bite him from his opening statement. I thought it was funny that he wanted the judge to tell the jury that a short day on weds was not due to the defenses fault.

Oh, definitely Darrin #1! It's such a let down when it's Darrin #2.

I read on Websleuths that before the trial started Casey signed something in regards to giving up her right to appeal due to misrepresentation. That she knew that Jose wasn't qualified to try a death penalty case. I think that is why CM joined the team.

It would be interesting to hear him go before the bar and have to reexplain himself from his ethnic behavior, as this was what kept him from getting in for 8 yrs. He had to show them he was rehabilitated.
