Casey Anthony Trial Thread #3

:thumbsup2 I noticed KC sitting in his chair!! I wondered if she was keeping it warm for him. ;)

I noticed that as well, I thought what is she doing? Does she think the one cam doesnt follow her? It went directly to where she is sitting. In my opinion the defense is getting away with way to much. I have never seen a prisoner get so much leway at a table before. And his texting at the podium was way out of line. I dont think prisoners were allowed to use phones or any other devices. Casey is laughing at things that she should not be. I do believe that the jury will take that into account. Mr. Baez needs to be reprimanded for alot of issues. I also wonder about the angry birds that Casey does, why has the news media not caught onto this and reported it?

Just to show how impartial I can be, I will defend Casey on this one. Even when under great duress, I am able to laugh when something is amusing. Granted, my duress has never involved being on trial for killing my child, but I do think asking Casey to remain morose looking throughout the entire trial is asking too much.

How'd I do with the impartial thing? ;)

You done good:)

Just to be a wet blanket I'll note that George didn't laugh :sad2:

Nancy can come back from the washroom and sound like shes about to burst into tears because they are out of toilet paper.

personally i think it's an act - i mean emotion is one thing but every single time??? did she burst into tears when she was asking defendants questions? is that why she's no longer a prosecutor?

I dont know why she stopped. But one thing for certain: many professionals can set aside emotions to get their job done. A first responder, a surgeon, a lawyer on a violent homicide case...

I know that in an emergency with anyone OTHER than my own kids and likely family (had no emergencies with the rest of fam--so I assume)--I have a very brief moment of panic and then I shift into auto-pilot. Adrenaline takin over and I take care of business.

Nancy, on her show, is not in a courtroom. And yes, she is an attorney, but on that show her goals are not to be On the side of anyone accused. Does sensationalize---sure. But I remember her giving up dates on her twins when they were babies. She was not faking that. I did not see her show prior to being a mother, so don't know if her emotions were different. By I am of the opinion that her emotions are highly sincere and not an act. I also think that she often says what people are thinking much of the time.

I'm sure someone has said this before. Casey looks like Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Oh yuck no! (that is toasted Casey, not JLH)

I have watched her since her Kids, Inc days on the Disney Channel. Casey may WANT to look like her, but JLH's eyes are much softer and her jaw line and facial features less harsh. I don't even think they look like sisters.

Yep, this is how I think it will play out too. If opening statements aren't evidence, then somehow they have to get the supposed molestation into evidence, how else to do that except through Casey herself. She thinks she's so clever, I'm sure she thinks she can act her way right out of this, and Baez doesn't seem like he has the experience to know that this is really not a good idea.

I 100% believe Casey Anthony alone is responsible for the death and disposal of Caylee, but I have a bad feeling that she could somehow get an acquittal.

Here is my deal---a murder happened here. They can have her act like a scared puppy dog all she wants. It is not a defense to killing her baby.

Her story will have all sorts of holes that Ashtong sill poke through.

Remember in the movie--A few Good Men (You can't handle the truth)? Remember the scene at the end..I really felt bad for the young man who was upset on the stand and was looking to his attorney for help. Casey will look to Baez and she will be stuck. The 5th does not protect her from questions about her accusations of others. She cannot answer Baez's questions about what she claims George did and then refuse to answer the prosecution.

I will bet dollars to donuts that Baez will foolishly object and assert her fifth amendment rights in that case.

It would be interesting to see if she could be tripped up by Ashton asking defense's questions and see if the answers stay the same. Not sure if he can--but it would be interesting. Too bad the Lie to Me guy is only an actor acting a character who wasn't even an attorney. It would make for a great cross examination, though.

I hope you are right. I can't imagine what Jeff Ashton will do to her but I definitely want to watch it unfold. I would love to see someone get truly tough with her. The one detective (Muri??) pressed her a bit and she didn't back down and stuck to all her lies. I think part of Casey's problem is that nobody ever confronts her for more than a few minutes and then they back down.
I agree and maybe that is why you don't see long time friends/connections. The only people still around are her parents. They want desperately to believe her or just not get her angry. It seems like its a mixture of "avoiding her wrath" and trying to believe in their daughter.
I'm related by marriage to a lawyer who has worked with baez and he says he'd bet the dog that Baez is going to shock everyone and put her up there. I hear he has someone going over the questions with her already. She's being coached to act like a scared innocent child as a way to counter the grilling she's going to get from Ashton and to make the jury see her as a real person instead of just a face and name sitting there. They're going to play down the molestation accusations and use the George helped her hide the accident and that she was so sad and grief-stricken she went along with it, eventually repressing it all as if it never happened. That's why she isn't able to show emotion as a grieving mother would. Be ready for a lot of objections by both sides while she's being questioned.

Should be interesting. Im not sure they would put Ashton to cross her, maybe LDB. Either way, neither of these two are push overs and at this point, unlike the police who wanted to keep her on their good side to try and elicit more information, they can go full throttle. I think the jury will see through it all and things just won't make sense to them, kind of like it we see it. It also opens the door to all her other lies that haven't been admitted.

I agree with you but Im not completely sure she will get an acquittal but maybe some kind of aggravated manslaughter. I do think, at least as of right now, that if she goes on the stand, she WILL get convicted.

Oh your post created so many mental images and scenarios to run though my brain!

I am sure that LDB will be the one to question Casey for several reasons. First, I think she's lead counsel in this case and it will be her choice. Second, it will look better for the jury or a woman to get tough with Casey than if Ashton does it. And don't forget that LDB is no pushover herself. I wouldn't want to get on the bad side of her or Ashton!

Me either! While I love watching Ashton, I love LDB's calm, cool, intellegent and to the point manner. The fact that Ashton can sometimes seem "bullying" is another reason why I think LDB would do the cross.

Ugh and why are AT&T's international data plans so limiting?!! You'd think they would have some kind of unlimited data for $10 for just these situations... LOL!

just for a little Hero watch instead of all this ....

i'm watching HLN waiting for the trial to start and they just did a bit on this guy who collects used soap from hotels in the States, cleans it, melts it, cuts it and send it do 3rd world countries so that they can wash and stay healthy.

sometimes my heart just fills with wormth when i hear stuff like that

Looks like they are starting early. First witness Dr Bill Rodriguez

Wait, Dr William Cesar Renado Rodriguez III, forensic anthropologist employed by Armed Forces Medical Offices. There as an unpaid consultant.

Did any of you see Nancy Grace on Showbiz Tonight last night? She was asked what about the case caused her to draw so much attention to the Casey Anthony case and she said that the public attention to the case doesn't have to do with her but it has to do with Caylee herself, with the videos and pictures of her etc.

AJ Hammer asked her one final question from a viewer about why she only uses the moniker "tot Mom" and if it is that she is afraid to use the name Casey Anthony- Nancy's response was this "well obviously she hasn't been watching our show which is a big tsk tsk no no, because I say Casey Anthony all the time, it's not that I think I am conjuring up the devil. Tot mom is a moniker that was attached to her at the get go and it stuck just like any other nickname so nobody is afraid of anything on the Nancy Grace show so your viewer can put that in her pipe and smoke it"

It was priceless!

This "bug" man is a lot more cool, calm and collected than yesterday's "bug" man. Of course, we haven't seen him in cross yet.

Uh, Uh,, Uh, Yes he is ;)
The Uhs drive me nuts.

Oh boy... Judge testy already. Gonna be a long morning!

For those not watching.. Ashton objects to an opinion by Dr Rodriguez about the duct tape. Objects based on the fact that this opinion has not been disclosed either by the defense or by his deposition. This disclosure is mandated by a court order. Jury dismissed, and we are now arguing.

When might we know if Casey isn't going to take the stand? I thought that they had to present their witness lists already, but I guess it could be a last minute "add-in" like the convicted felon - that was a huge success.
