Here's an interesting article. This was on the WFTV site in October 2008.

Apparently Baez had to be told at least TWICE to not have physical contact with Casey.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Baez was caught in her web; she seems to be able to manipulate people & it wouldn't be too far-fetched to think that she conned Baez too.

I cant believe cashiers did not ask to see the id. If that was the id they are swiping they did not bother looking to see if it matched.

ID not always required once you are in the system.

Amy was in Puerto Rico as well.

So, Casey claims two random guys (who have never been found) helped her push the car into the Amscot because she ran out of gas. But the car was perfectly parked, next to a dumpster, back end first? Could be, I guess.....

People did not like me when I was cashering as I was always asking for id. When it did not match no transaction and I usually got yelled at.

My internet is coming and going--someone on the WKMG blog said that in one of the videos, she did show and ID. Not sure why that transaction continued. But since no audio, she probably caught a lucky break and said it was her account, but her name wasn't on it or something.

I can see his point.

However--if they were allowed to go on the record and say "We have 27 additional witnesses to say the same thing" and then concede the rest of the list, I would be okay with that.

Jose just wants them blocked as if they did not exist.

That is not a fair trial. That is unfair bias he wishes to have towards his client, if he won't let the jury hear it.

Cumulative testimony or evidence is a valid ground for objection.

Has Baez actually made an objection on that basis? IMO that indirectly telegraphs to the jury that he concedes the evidence/testimony is valid & wants to move away from it. Just my opinion how some jurors might view this.

On the other hand, he has just made the denial of his objection another possible window for appeal. On the other hand -- lawyers are tricky, they have more than two, he can hope something drops in the parade of witnesses to give him more windows for mistrial or appeal.

I believe the motion was made after JP had the jury removed. So I'm not sure if the objection was made during sidebar or not.

The check had long cleared before Amy returned and noticed she had checks missing.

To dispute a check, one must stop payment on it and that cannot be done if the bank already paid.

Hence why Baez eventually reimbursed Amy even though Casey has not had her trial on stolen check charges.
