I am not saying that she shouldnt be in jail, just stating that this is what was going through her mind before all this started. It would have been better to put Caylee up for adoption. I feel sorry for Caylee she is the innocent person. There is alot of dysfunction in the family.

I absolutely agree. She absolutely should have given Caylee up for adoption. The sad part is that she tried to. Caylee is absolutely the victim.

But the whole Anthony family is highly dysfunctional. While I'm not sure that I believe all the claims there was something highly hinky going on in that family.

Just joining this thread and watching as much of the trial as I can.

One thing that concerns me about the Baez defense is that while his bumbling, lack of a brain persona may be funny to watch, it may lead to Casey being granted an entirely new trial because she can certainly prove her lawyer was incompetent.

ya but having a dumb *** lawyer isn't grounds for mistrial. there are hunderes of imcompetent lawyers out there. he's not court appointed, she or her family hired him

By the same token, just because we think he's a bumbling idiot, doesn't mean it qualifies as being so incompetent that she'd get a new trial, right? :confused3 Who knows. I think we're going to be hearing about Casey Anthony for a very long time.
but his being an idiot can very well lead to a mistrial by jury...he is already confusing the heck out of people.

she was declared indigent...her family is not paying for him.

But, if I recall correctly, you weren't allowed to take notes. And again, this is a sequestered jury, which, IIRC, yours was not. I think there are potential issues with letting the alternates leave while the others remain sequestered. But Judge Perry said he couldn't answer that question now...not sure why. Either because he doesn't think they should have that information now because it might affect how they view the rest of the case (thinking they might go home sooner as alternates), or because he needs to think about it, or study case law, or whatever.

Very true. The situation is different from when I served. I just find it strange that they would treat the alternates any different than the regular jurors when an alternate could end up a member of the regular jury panel at any point in the trial. If they allow the alternates to leave, how can he be sure they do not become tainted by the media of the trial? Interesting.

Has anyone heard of an attorney that was personally hired ended up being paid by the state? I am having a real problem with that. Especially since Baez was told he did not have enough experience. And who the heck is paying for the so called bodyguards he has?

ok someone please tell me if i'm reading something into this but the judge is driving me crazy.

i haven't been watching much of it but the few times i've seen him he seems to be grinning or smiling which reminds me of the OJ judge and Anna nicole judge who seem to love being on TV

It's his way to keep from laughin' out loud at Baez sometimes. ;)

This is the first time I am hearing that casey wanted to put caylee up for adoption. When was this stated? I can't believe I missed this.

Also, in yesterdays questioning of George he stated they didn't know she was pregnant until she was 6 - 7 months along. That, I don't believe. She was clearly pregnant. Why would they want to keep the baby?

she was doing the computer searches prior to being with Tony though, but I do think that could be added to motive. The sad thing is, the grandparents would have gladly taken her, but Casey saw her as a pawn.

This! Casey didn't want to take responsibility but I think she hated her parents so much that she didn't want them to have Caylee either, and what better way to punish them than to make it so no one can have Caylee like she was some kind of possession. Sad. Just sad. :sad1:

hummmmm really???

are they talking about a hockey game???

Love the judge.
He is attempting to keep Baez in line and if he didn't grin once in a while by now he would have exploded.

In the very beginning her mother wanted her to give her up for adoption....and of course we know she won't ever go along with her mothers wishes.

eta - it was stated they went back and forth on the subject.I would haev to go back and find where though.

In my OP I said that Caylee should have been given up for adoption. I have no knowledge if this is something she thought about. Sorry if you were missled.

Its a thought that has gone through many people's minds. However, they do have Cheney Mason, a death penalty trial qualified lawyer, so Im not sure if it will fly.. At least I hope not

Its the law. Casey hired Jose Baez herself. Paid him over $200,000 grand by selling to pics and videos to Good Morning America. After that money ran out and she had no more left, she was declared indigent, therefore the attorney must now be paid by the state. In fact, Baez can't even quit. If you are hired by someone who later, after you have been paid, declares indigent , you just can't quit and run.
