Casey Anthony NOT GUILTY & Sentencing Thread 6

And the judge included this in his instructions. If a child dies in my care, you KNOW the law is going to investigate. If I lie and try to hide the body......

I agree. Let's suppose that my husband was dying of heart failure and only had weeks to live. The doctors all knew that his illness was terminal. So if he died in his sleep and I threw his body in the woods and didn't report his death to authorities for 31 days wouldn't I be charged with something. Isn't that illegal in and of itself?

Do you realize that Jeff Ashton was the first prosecutor to ever have DNA introduced in to a court room?

Show some respect.

"Respect" doesn't enter into this. He failed to prove his position. That has no bearing on what respect I or anyone may, or maynot have for his past performance.

I am so very sad that justice for Caylee was not served today. I do believe that she was guilty and that the evidence proved that, but i guess the jury sees it differently than i do. I still have difficulty wrapping my head around the fact that out of 12 people, nobody could get reasonable doubt does not equal without a doubt................and that to me is what caused the verdict.

I hope the jury is content with their decision as they have to live with it and i myself would not like to have to decide somebodys fate, but would if ever called upon. So many questions and so little answers that nobody will ever know other than Casey. I really think that she has herself convinced that the story she tells is the truth and will have no problem moving on from this while the rest of her family struggle to find a new normal. Dispite all her families faults i do feel bad for them and hope to never experience what they have.

Thanks to everyone for your contributions...its been an interesting read to see everyones view and take on things even when different than mine.

OK, Ill try this..
Facts:
1- Caylee is dead
2-Her death wasn't reported
3-Her mother, who was to care for her, didn't tell anyone
4-She was found thrown in a swamp like trash

Well:
1-These facts lead me to believe her death was not by "natural causes".
2-Common sense tells me that innocent deaths are not made to look like murder and hidden away.
3-The whole "she freaked" doesn't add up considering how she acted for the next 30 days. NOT the behavior of someone who freaked and hid the body
4- She was found thrown in a swamp, someone was trying to hide something

So, knowing this, yes, my common sense tells me this wasn't an accident and Casey, the mother who she was last seen with, had something to do with it. Reasonable doubt for Murder 1? Sure, but plenty for Murder 2 or 3

Secondly, even if somehow I can't come up with Murder, a child died under her maternal care, she hid it and didn't say anything ... Child abuse for sure...

But never NEVER does the evidence show not guilty of anything.

You mean you don't believe that a 2 year old can tape three pieces of duct tape over her mouth and nose, climb into a garbage bag and then into the trunk of her mothers car? How is that not "natural causes":rolleyes1 (There really is not a smiley for my thoughts on this, but this is as close as I can come).
Shut the trunk, start to decompose and then throw herself into the woods with her Pooh blanket?

Now what about that is hard to believe?pirate:

I was so sick to my stomach I had to leave the last thread, then I return 4 hours later and we have a new thread! Yay! Thanks Mare....and it is so good to see my trial buddies. :goodvibes
The more I hear about the jury the more I think WOW what a brilliant group!!One arrested for DUI, one arrested for drug paraphaniala, and 2 who made it to the 11th grade!!
Well there ya go!
A jury of her peers.
:thumbsup2

Jesse Grund was just on NG with his father. Poor guy! He really loved Caylee. Said he can't "go there" to trying to figure out exactly what happened, because then he would have to picture what happened to Caylee. :(

Jesse's father was saying how dysfunctional the family is, pointing the finger at Cindy. I bet the Grunds are glad they dodged a bullet having her joining their family and having Casey give birth to any of their grandchildren.

The Anthonys got home at around 8:30, drove into the garage, and shut the door. I wonder how much of a relationship they have with any of their neighbors. I know many of them want them out of the neighborhood. As it is, they have to live with people coming around to the dumping ground down the street, but at least those people aren't at that location angry.

In the first matter, sadly I can't hold a candle to your own esteemed abilities.
In the second, are you sexist? Why do you assume the participants in the thread are all women?

Thank you for proving my point. I didn't say all the participants are women. I said 'any of the women', and all that implies is that there are women participating in this thread, nothing more.

Im finding it harder to deal with folks who are hiding behind the "its our system" explanation to accept that a killer has gone free.

All I hear is that criminals have a right to be acquitted because there is no smoking gun. How did we ever convict anyone before DNA, video, audio and th like? Common sense people! A jury is there to judge and evaluate. To peruse the evidence, to really examine it,not sit on their butts and wait for the evidence to slap them in the face! After nearly 2 months of testimony, they reviewed the evidence in 10 hours? I call BS!

No "smugness"...just a simple observation of the facts. His "error" is that he failured to prove is arguement and thus lost the case. I agree is closing will be studied for years...as a failure.

Ok so we understand you have opinions but would rather trash talk than back them up.

S'ok :confused3

Yep this..............seem there is alot of confusion between reasonable doubt and without a doubt.

Guess what? THEY DIDN'T!! They didn't ask for ONE PIECE of evidence to examine and they didn't ask ONE question!!!!!!

Disgusting.

Your opinion and unfortunately the opinion of the few people that mattered. Most of those people, I am of the opinion, weren't fit to be on the jury. To me and many others, he did prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she did murder her child. Just because 12 people said that he didn't prove his point, doesn't make it true, well legally it does and again unfortunately this is what we have to go on.

We thought the world was flat a long time ago, and I am sure people argued in agreement with this theory, didn't make it true either. Just as what you say, with such smugness, isn't necessarily true. Just because you are passionate, doesn't make you right.

Thank you for proving my point. I didn't say all the participants are women. I said 'any of the women', and all that implies is that there are women participating in this thread, nothing more.

To the contrary, it is I who thank you for proving my point :)

...
Also, while I know they mean well, I get frustrated hearing people (including my DH ;)) who keep saying that she will have to live with what she's done. I keep asking whether they saw any of the pictures from the 31 days. She doesn't have any problem with living with it at all.

I think the court of public opinion will follow her for a long time. She won't be able to go back to the life she had. People won't forget about this and won't let her forget about it either.

What If they came back in 10 hours with a guilty verdict? Would you cry BS then? How many pieces of evidence would you have needed to see again to declare her guilty? I am not trying to be confrontational, but I don't think you would have needed even one hour to come back with a guilty verdict.

what part of:

[QUOTENo "smugness"...just a simple observation of the facts. His "error" is that he failured to prove is arguement and thus lost the case][/QUOTE]

ie either trash talk or requires "back up"...it is a statement of fact as shown by the action of a jury of the defendant's peers.

Wait, why was Scott Peterson convicted and not Casey Anthony?

Isn't waiting a month to tell ANYONE your toddler is missing a crime? Neglect? Something????

She did nothing wrong except lie to police? Unbelievable. :sad2:

Since you clearly also lack the "legal mind" you'll kindly note I've made no reference to the Judge. Otherwise I stand behind my statement. Ashton is apparently lacks the wonderful legal sense you have bestowed upon him as evidenced by the complete failure of his augurements.

I have a very good legal mind, thank you. I very seriously doubt that you share it.

I referred to Judge Perry because he could have dismissed the charges many times, and he has an acknowledged brilliant legal mind. He is not my favorite Judge because I actively oppose the death penalty. But the man seriously knows his Law! He thought the case had merit. FYI, Perry was the prosecutor in the "Black Widow" case way back when. A very circumstantial case but he won it and she was executed.

Please, before you pontificate with inadequate information and damn the State of Florida with an apparent wish for murderers to roam free, perhaps you should email Judge Perry himself with your thoughts not waste them on us.;)

Ashton is a wonderful attorney. It is very sad if he retires with this case. He did a great job and I hope he knows it.

Other people are dealing with the rest of your meager protestations and I don't want points. So . . .

Have a good day.:)

*$&#*($*@#*$&~!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was my reaction this afternoon when I got a txt that she was found innocent.

I am appalled. I am beyond disgusted. I can't even fathom this.

When did they end up recruiting the OJ jury for this trial?!

Beyond angry and frustrated. Will not post my thoughts on the jury at this moment as they could get me in a lot of trouble.

Someone please make my day better and tell me that they're going to go after Cindy on perjury charges!!!!!!

I am not passionate about this case. But, both the defense and the state participated in jury selection.
