This civil suit has nothing to do with the guilt or innocence of Casey Anthony with regard to murdering Caylee. It's not a wrongful death suit.

Yep! I saw him on the local news last night talking about this case and the fact that Zimmerman's lawyers screwed up by holding a press conference. Only one person can save the day.......Jose! He would LOVE another high profile case.

Casey Anthony defamation lawsuit can proceed to trial, judge rules

"(CBS/AP) ORLANDO, Fla. - A defamation lawsuit filed against Casey Anthony can proceed to trial early next year, an Orange County Circuit judge ruled.

Judge Lisa Munyon released her ruling Thursday. Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez claims her reputation was damaged by Anthony telling detectives that a baby sitter by the same name kidnapped Anthony's 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

The Orlando Sentinel reports an issue is whether or not Anthony identified Gonzalez specifically enough when she talked to her parents when they visited her in jail.

Anthony's attorney said details offered by Anthony did not match Fernandez-Gonzalez and clearly showed Anthony wasn't talking about her. Gonzalez's attorneys say she still was damaged as the only person with that name interviewed by investigators.

Fernandez-Gonzalez had never met Anthony. Investigators believe Anthony may have seen the name on an apartment rental application.

During Anthony's trial last year, her attorney Jose Baez said Anthony made up the story about the babysitter and that Caylee truly drowned in the family pool. Anthony was acquitted of murder and other serious charges.

The civil trial is slated for January 2013."

So I assume Casey will be there? And cameras? But that's a long time from now...lots can happen between now and then. I'd still be very surprised to see any of this actually played out in a courtroom.

The total awesomeness of Casey Anthony? Wow.

Sounds like she's a role model for a bunch of prepubescent delinquents. Oh, yay. Maybe their parents can steer them to more respectable role models, like Lindsay Lohan.

Anyone watching the Tammi Smith trial on InSession? It's one of the rare trials they show live, it seems.

Tammi Smith was the woman who wanted to adopt, with her husband, Baby Gabriel from his parents, Elizabeth and Logan. I think she met Elizabeth at an airport? Elizabeth is the one who claimed to Logan (her ex) in a recorded phone call that she had killed Gabriel, stuffed him in the diaper bag (makes me sick to repeat this ) and put him in a dumpster. No body found. She's changed her story a few times.

Tammi, 40, of Scottsdale, is charged with forgery and conspiracy to commit custodial interference with Gabriel's mother, Elizabeth Johnson.
Johnson, 25, of Tempe, is held without bond on kidnapping, child abuse, custodial interference and conspiracy to commit custodial interference. She awaits a September court date.

Listening to the recorded phone calls between Elizabeth and Logan makes me think she really did kill Gabriel. Logan turned her into a monster, per Elizabeth. Accused him of having girlfriends, based on what she saw on his FB. And...who does this remind you of?...she said to him something like "All you care about it Gabriel...you don't care about ME."

A couple of interesting things about this case (well, lots of interesting things)...1) in Arizona, the jurors can ask questions during the trial. Never heard of such a thing. I guess what they do (because they did have a question today, but I didn't see how it all played out) is somehow present the question to the judge, then the judge gets together in a sidebar with the lawyers on both sides, and they decide if it can be asked. It was NOT allowed. Judge said that he didn't want to discourage future questions, but that this one would not be allowed. Well, at least they sound INTERESTED. The CA jurors never asked a question DURING DELIBERATIONS (if we can call what they did deliberating). And 2) if any witnesses don't want to be televised, they don't have to be (names still given during swearing in, and their testimony can be heard), so this one witness gets sworn in off camera, and then en route to the witness stand, the cameras got a VERY clear shot of him. I'd sue!

I recorded it and couldn't bring myself to watch it until tonight. As much as I like Jeff Ashton, it kills me to see anything about the CA trial rehashed, and that weasel Jose...ever. And footage of Casey Anthony walking free. The show itself was a real downer too, but interesting.

Oh yeah...and Linda Kenny Baden...I find myself realizing I'm gritting my teeth, listening to her speak.

He left with a grocery bag of stuff and another guy was carrying two grocery bags of things for him and he was only in jail for a week. It made me wonder how Casey spent all that time in there and left empty handed. Maybe my tax dollars were used to ship her stuff to her at a later date so she didn't have to burden herself with carrying heavy bags.

CA allegedly reconciled with Lee before his March wedding. OMG, Mallory didn't get away? That girl should have run screaming from that family. Next step...children? Let's see who babysits.

Also, allegedly reconciled with Cindy, but not George. George turned out to be the only smart one in the bunch.

Don't know if it's true...the book sounds like a bunch of sensationalism...but don't serial killers like to keep a souvenir? I could definitely see Casey doing it. Me, I'd be haunted the rest of my life if I did anything to my child.

I don't know how George can stay with Cindy. They have a pretty darn HUGE difference of opinion there, about their daughter's guilt/innocence of murdering their granddaughter, as well as how angry one should be about her accusations. Doesn't get much bigger than that.

Anyway...the LifeTime Movie is in the works, with Rob Lowe playing Jeff Ashton. Eh.

I have never thought of Jeff Ashton and Rob Lowe in the same sentence. But the folks at Lifetime have. Lowe will play the former prosecutor in a film based on Ashton’s book, “Imperfect Justice.”

That movie-star casting suggests that Ashton’s opponents won’t fare as well. Think of all the character actors who could be drafted to play Jose Baez in the film tentatively called “Prosecuting Casey Anthony.” It could be anyone from Joe Pesci to Paul Reubens.

State Attorney Lawson Lamar won’t get the Lowe treatment, either. He is more likely to be played by John Ratzenberger than Ted Danson.

And what of Casey herself? Producers would be wise to use news footage of her and just film an unnamed actress from the back when a body is needed.

Rachel Dratch, a “Saturday Night Live” alum, sort of resembles Casey and can pull off the weird faces. She might be too old, but the years haven’t been kind to Casey.

Still, I think news footage is the way to go. No one does Casey like Casey.

Whoever it is, I think we should be acting coaches. We need to remind the actress about all the idiosyncrasies that are Casey, like rubbing her eyes with her middle finger on a tissue that never gets wet with tears.
