Thirty kids near me are having a birthday party right now. I'm convinced people don't care anymore.
story of my life..... my neighbors Octoberfest party was a real humdinger...as was the neighbors down the stree with the porta potties in the yard and huge dining tents set up for the 300 people barbecuing that day,or the neighbors with a bounce house rented and a yardful of families at the party....it makes me cringe.
I was surprised to see a lower number for Wisconsin today when Saturday is usually one of the highest, but yeah, it’s absolutely meaningless. Your doctor’s situation is a perfect example of that and why we are where we are. So irresponsible and beyond frustrating.Down here in WI, from 8,000 to 5,000. I'm guessing today is just a blip and we'll be right back up there tomorrow or monday. My Dr. got married yesterday, 35 person ceremony. Today is his reception, 135 people. Apparently his father, a just retired Dr. was asking one of his former nurses if it makes sense to have the reception with that many people right now.

not that I know of.....Do you have a (whistleblower) number you can call for fine levie?
Ohio keeps setting records and our governor is threatening another partial shutdown like the spring. Frankly I think it is needed and will be coming soon. The number of Halloween parties I saw was staggering and I'm sure one of the reasons for our spikes now.
it's been going on since the very beginning...they have HUGE drinking parties, and I get to hear them all talking about how they're worried about covid safety with each other(shouting gets louder as the night goes on...it's at least a weekly thingugh, what a nightmare
THIS. Yes....Memorial Day weekend was a big worry....and it got worse a few weeks after that. Up till then it was mostly lockdown that was a big factor in numbers starting to drop after a couple of months. People just don't seem to understand the delay in activity to a rise in numbers....from what I've seen it can be a delay in 2-6 weeks. At least bc those numbers start to grow exponentially..... All summer most people have been getting more and more lax. And it's just getting worse with cold weather, and indoor dining, and travel that's not necessary (even tho that's the reason for these boards *cough cough*).... just read other areas here. Plenty of travel, plenty of family visits, plenty of doing whatever we want, backyard parties, etc. Who knows what will happen in a month? Who knows what could happen if we all chose to stay home (unless necessary for work)....who knows?I think it's just more people moving around, many parts of the country giving up on masks...etc. I keep thinking back to March 20th-Memorial Day. We were shut down...no school, no non-essential shops were open....just restaurant take-out, Lowes/Home Depot and grocery stores. And the stores that were open severely limited the number of people, had the arrows going down aisles...all of that. Nobody was co-mingling inside homes. No weddings...no events, nothing. Almost no travel was happening.
And think of now. People are out and about. Yes, in my area people wear masks in stores, but I do see more noses now. And inside homes....no masks with people co-mingling between households. In other parts of the country nobody is wearing masks and people are just out and about. There are full-blown weddings happening, indoors...and when I see those types of things on social media, it's jarring to me. So I just feel like it's just pandemic fatigue. Pandemic anger...whatever you want to call it.
And sure, I do think people are thinking...well, I'm going to get it anyway....so, whatever. But I think of the person who gets it as a house party, is asymptomatic, then heads to work at the long term care facility and infects 50 people. With so much virus circulating, it's going to be hard to keep it out of those facilities.
I wondered the exact same thing. Here all the restrictions are administered municipally, through City by-law and business licensing enforcement. We definitely have a "snitch line" and there has been increased advertising of it. Our contact-tracing has basically fallen apart and it's estimated as many as 2/3 cases in Alberta are now of unknown origin. We are taking a lot of "shot-in-the-dark" measures, hoping some of them hit the mark and clamping down on private events like the one @hsmamato2 described would definitely occur if it was reported. Fines/tickets would be handed out (currently $282 for a first offense) and in the case of businesses not complying, it would be fines and possible license suspensions.Do you have a (whistleblower) number you can call for fine levie?
This is us.. Also outlines the newer new restrictions... sigh.

Interestingly, weddings and funerals are currently permitted here but in exactly the opposite proportion. A ceremony (in an appropriate venue where the proprietors are responsible for enforcing distancing and masking) can have up to 50 seated attendees. A reception is limited to 15 attendees and the venue is held strictly responsible for any violations of the guidelines for numbers and/or food and beverage service.Down here in WI, from 8,000 to 5,000. See... I wish I had seen any enforcement of local rules at all this whole summer.... nope. For some reason a lot of folks in my neighborhood have police in the family, and I see their cars around quite a bit. No one really seems to care. I would have to say not enough people care. I do know enough people IRL who do care, and try very hard to be safe.I wondered the exact same thing.
