Carseats on airplane opinion, please

the mother was given a chance to change seats to use her carseat but it was just for her and the baby. flight was full of a lot of families and they did not want to split. she refused and complained the whole flight. she made the choice to stay with husband and turn seat around. I would have been the harder to move as we were 2 adults and 2 kids seated 3and 1 across the isle.

I'm not accusing but curious why you switching places with soneone in your party so you wouldn't have been in front of the baby wasn't an option? My experience has been that the baby must be on the window, but it sounds like you had two aisle seats to choose from in your party.
