How exciting... My first post! :woohoo:

I am going to WDW in a few weeks with my 6 month old and 2 year old. I will have my son's cradle carseat because it's handy with the stroller. Will I need to bring a car seat for my daughter for using the Disney transportation? What's the procedure?

Thanks!

Melanie

Nope - and you couldn't use it even if you brought it. Disney transportation is not equipped for carseats!

You cannot use a stroller on Disney transport. While you may want to bring the infant carrier, I would actually not use it at the parks. It's going to be pretty warm and babies can get overheated in the infant carrier pretty easily.

If you plan to rent a car or take a taxi, you will need carseats.

consider wearing your baby at DW - do you have a good sling? It can be a savior and you can get on many of the rides wearing your little one

Thanks for your prompt answers. I did not think of the heat factor for the little guy. I have a baby carrier that I don't wear a lot because of back problems. I also have 2 slings that are too small for me (still hoping!).

It's good to know that I won't have to lug around my daughter's carseat on the plane! Thanks!

Hi Melanie, if you bought your LO a seat on the plane, I would highly recommend bringing the car seat on board the plane and using it. The FAA actually recommends using a car seat for children up to 40lbs, although it isn't a requirement. If your LO w/b a lap baby then you won't be able to use the car seat on the plane, but if she will have a seat, then it would be a safe place to put her down and buckle her up when she's not being held. Actually, your 2yr old w/b safest in a car seat too, but that is a personal decision whether you bring it or not. When my ds was that age, I never trusted that he would keep himself buckled up if he wasn't in a car seat, (those airplane lap belts are easy to undo) but he has always been a stubborn, impulsive child. :)

As the others have already stated, if you're just using Magical Express to get to/from the airport, and Disney Transport around the parks, then there is no need to bring car seats for that, but if you'll be taking a taxi or renting a car, then you will need car seats. Disney buses do not have seat belts so there is no way to attach a car seat.
