Got my g2 in April

Getting my full G license next April

Currently driving a 2002 chevy cavalier but I too hope to somebody own a Mini Cooper or a little truck like a Ford Ranger.

Wow you guys get permits really young!!! :scared1:

Then again America is a big country, if I wanted to get to our town centre at home i would walk 20 mins, rather than drive, and i live in the suburbs. If i want to get to the city at uni i take the train for 10 mins or a bus for 40. where as it probibly a long old walk for you guys and there dont seeme to be many train routes!

They apparently want to up it to 18 in the UK to get a full licence, but there is a lot of debate about it.

Do you guys get licences in stages? What do you have to do to get each kind of licence? Is it different in different states? When can you drive alone?

We have to have someone with us who is over 21 and had had their licence for 3 years when we want to practice for our test and we cant drive on motoways (highways in us??) and we have to have Learner 'L' signs on our car. Afterwards you can drive alone and on the motorway (which i have done :) ), are their any rules on ur licences?

Licenses and permits vary by state here.

In Mass. you need to be 16 to take the written test for a permit.
With driver's ed class, behind the wheel time with driving school teacher, observation time with driving school, plus driving time with your parents, you can get your JOL (Jr operator license) within 6 months. You just need to take a road test for that one. You sit with a state trooper and drive around, park, etc.

JOL restrictions suck though. For the first 6 months of your license you can't drive with anyone under 18 unless there is someone with a license who is over 21 in the passenger seat (unless its your immediate family).
No driving between 12AM-5AM.
Speeding tickets are now a huge offense for JOL drivers. You get the ticket, suspended license for 60 days, have to take a driving course (out of your pocket $), pay $500 reinstatement fee, and i think you need to take the road test again.

JOL laws end once you turn 18. (Which is today for me woohoo!)

the second i turn 17 im gonna be at the dmv to get my licence. I wanna start out with a mustang. In the future i wanna get a nice bmw 7 series

I'm only 14. So I don't drive yet. Nor have my permit. I believe here it's 15 1/2 for permit and 16 for license. I'm not 100% sure though. Guess I'll find out next year in Drivers Ed. :p

But I can and can't wait to drive. I can't wait because it'll make my life and my parents life so much easier. But I can wait because I am a little afraid of all the idiots out there driving around like what else......idiots.

I'd like one of these cars to start out:
Dodge Neon or a
Volkswagon Beetle

And maybe one of these in the future:
Hyundai Santa Fe or a
Ford Expedition

But my parents and I well, actually my parents, decided that I will more than likely get my dad's Ford Tauris(sp?). Its a lightish mediumish blue.

I drive. Its nice. I have a 2006 Honda Civic. Its red. It gets me where I need to go. :)

idc about driving really but I know I am getting my aunt's chevy cavalier. I will be getting my permit in May.

I voted Yes, but I'm in no rush to really drive at all.
My parents tell me sometimes when am I going to ask them to teach me how to drive but I'm ok for now.
I should though...
I havent even gotten my permit and I'm already 15!

oh don't feel bad, I didn't get my permit until 2 months after I turned 16. xD

I am scared of driving. I've only driven once in the whole 2 months I've had my permit, and it was in a parking lot. My mom told me I was pretty good, but I was afraid to go more than like 5 miles an hour, and I suck at parking between the lines. I really don't want to take drivers ed, but I want to drive because I feel like a loser riding the bus every morning and asking my friends for rides.
