Carryon measurement include wheels?

Were flying jet blue tomorrow and were planning to just take carryons. The length limit is 24inches. The body of my bag is 24 inches exactly, but the wheels are an extra 1.5 inches. I called jb and they said the wheels are not added into the measurements. I just don't know if I trust that. Was hoping for some real world experiences. Anyone.? Thanks in advance!

If I had a problem at the gate, I would tell them that I called JB and was told how to measure the bag. The company you're dealing with should have their correct policies. I understand why you're asking but you may get incorrect information here. Were you able to get the rep"s name?

I didn't get the name(s), but I did call from my cell phone so I will have the calls in my outgoing call log if they questioned me. I did call again so I could get it from another source. He wasn't sure and put me on hold for a long time so he could "get accurate info." He finally came back and assured me that it didn't include the wheels and was only the measurement of the bag itself.

So I'm going to cross my fingers. I'm so paranoid about lost luggage that I just find it easier to take carry-ons. Luckily my MIL/FIL are snowbirds who are down in FL for the winter. They'll be taking all of our stuff home with them since we're visiting them at the end of the month and in February and certainly won't need our shorts and capris here in Boston between now and then.

But if it doesn't fit it doesn't fit, and the OP will need to check it.

I don't even see how the rep could be right. Wheels aren't standard; some bags have big wheels that protrude quite a bit, others don't. How could they make sure that they've left enough allowance for ANY bag?

I would assume that the dude was either wrong or didn't get what you were asking, or answered in a way that made sense to him but is the opposite of how you took it.

As a former flight attendant my bag is 22in plus a little bit for wheels. If its fits in the overhead (jetBlue flies A320's and E190's which fit full size "rollaboards") its good to go. In all my years as an airport agent and flight attendant I dont think anyone ever stopped and asked to measure my bag or see if it fit in the little metal guide they sometimes have at the gate.

You'll be fine. You're looking at the wrong plane . I think. Boston to Orlando should be an Airbus, not an Embrear. You get 26 inches for your longest measurement. Heck, my carry on is 22x15x10 - and the Flight Attendant fit it on the 22x10 side in the overhead compartment!

Just following up to say the wheels were not included and all went well. Fwiw it was the smaller plane.
