We have taken a variety of electronics (digital camera, video camera, iPod, PSP) in our carry on luggage on numerous occasions so you should have no problem with a gameboy.

You can bring any type of thing like ipods, game boys, cell phones, cameras, camcorders, etc. Everything needs to be turned off when they close the door after boarding. The flight attendant will make an announcement. Once the plane 10,000 feet in the air the flight attendant will announce that you can use devices that do not transmit signals - you can't use a cell phone or internet connections in the air. I think that also applies ot the game devices that transmit signals to anothre device near by. Make sure your game boy is easily accessible. Sometimes they won't let you out of your seat because of turbulance even though they say you cna use it. About 10-15 minutes before you land the flight attendant will announce all electronic devices must be turned. Once you land and are on the taxiway most airlines let you use your cell phone.
