carry-on advice within US

Hi Guys,
I have all the info. on carry-on bans and restrictions for flights coming into the US, but we are driving from Canada and flying down to Disney on a US internal flight. I wondered if anyone could tell me if there are any of the same restrictions? I can't seem to find any restriction information. From reading some threads it seems you guys are still taking regular carry on bags on board. I'd appreciate your insight.

Thanks so much. I have already checked this site out and I can't see any of the new restrictions that we have in place for flights entering the US from Canada - until further notice we can't bring anything basically! A small purse or laptop only. Was even a ban on books!- think that's lifted now.
Thanks again. Hoping we'll be able to bring a little more on our internal flight.

Have you checked the new CATSA regulations as of January 20th? They were to change to be acceptable for most travellers. Even before the 20th one A4 size purse and one carry laptop bag with laptop were permitted.

Carry-on baggage guidelines to U.S.A.


One small carry-on bag is now permitted for airline passengers who are travelling to the United States. This carry-on bag must not exceed a size of 23 cm x 40 cm x 55 cm (9 in x 16 in x 22 in), which is equivalent to the size of a small gym bag. The carry-on bag must fit into an airport’s carry-on baggage sizer.

Items such as reading material, personal electronics, and medications must be stored in the passenger’s carry-on bag, and packed prior to the security check.

Exceptions are made to accommodate travellers with medical conditions or travelling with small children:

A cane, walker, crutches or other life-sustaining items may be carried in addition to the carry-on bag.
Medical equipment (oxygen tank, doctor’s bag) may be carried in addition to the carry-on bag.
Diaper bags and other essential items for those carrying infants may be carried in addition to the carry-on bag.
Other Exemptions Include:

One of the following will be permitted in addition to the carry-on bag: a purse or laptop or briefcase or camera bag.
A musical instrument may be carried in addition to the carry-on bag.
Pets may be carried in addition to the carry-on bag.
All duty free items purchased after the security check may also be carried onto the aircraft.

As you are flying within the USA you will be permitted, (size depending on airline) one carry on and one personal item.l

Currently, domestic flights witin the US do not have the same restrictions as flying internationally into the US.

just got off the phone with Southwest and they told me that flying with in the us from buffalo to orlando we can take a carry on and 1 personal iteam
the carry on demsions is 10X16X24 and 1 personal iteam

He could actually have carried his laptop in a laptop carry bag AND his murse since early January 2010 for flights from Canada to the US. Enforcement and understanding of the rules was unfortunately not always consistent, but the CATSA site did permit that, and many were able to take those items. He may still want to print out those links if his flight is in the next few days.
