We are planning our 3rd trip to WDW in Sept 2006 and will be staying at the carribean beach resort. Any hints and tips on how to make the most of the resort?

Hi Sapper  and welcome to the DIS UK boards! It's never too soon to start planning the next trip ;)

The Caribbean Beach resort is beautiful, but it does cover quite a large area, making it a bit of a hike to the main building with the food court, shop, etc. if you're out 'on the edge'.

Take a look at this information on the resort (it includes a map) and see whether it would be an advantage to you to request your room in a particular area.

There are quiet pools around the resort which are great if you just want a dip to cool off, but don't mind missing out on the fully themed central pool. A stroll around the lake as the sun goes down is a romantic way to end the evening ;)

Got back from CBR and HRH 2 weeks ago. Had a wonderful time at both. Request Martinique to be close to main pool and food court - i phoned hotel direct 5 days before arrival and asked for this. Very relaxing hotel, transport was fantastic and i would have no hesitation in going back again. Sit on the beach at the back of the Banana Cabana at 9pm and watch the fireworks at Epcot. Simply stunning! No complaints at all. Enjoy yourselves :cheer2:

I wrote a long message before but closed the window before it sent properly!!

Anyway, we stayed here in October 2003 and it is a really nice resort.
We stayed in Aruba, i think, which is accross the lake from Old Port Royale (where you buy food and where there are shops). There is a bridge connecting one side to the other and it only took about 5 minutes for us to walk from Aruba to Old Port Royale.

A tip - if you are using disney transport we would get off at Old Port Royale at the end of the day, fill the refillable mugs and then walk back to our room (or if you are lazy there is an internal bus system going around the 'islands' ;) ) We also did this in the morning - walk to refill the mugs then get on the bus to the parks from the Old Port Royale stop.

Each 'island' has its own pool... i could see the midnight fireworks at pleasure island from the pool and also from the beach.

It is really close to Epcot. At the bus stop one night at Aruba we could see a little bit of and hear illuminations at 9pm. Also i walked to trinadad area (furthest from Old Port Royale i think) and had a good view of part of spaceship earth at night.

Stayed in July 2003

Was in Barbados which was quite a long walk-but thouroughly enjoyable all the same.

Each "island" has it's own pool use these instead of the main pool at peak times as you are more likley to enjoy your swim but if you want a slide head for the main pool!

Beat the rush for mealtimes as it can e incredibly busy!!!!

make the most of the facilities available to you! use the boat and bike hire and the small beaches are good for just relaxing on!

It's a very pretty resort so if you are farther away from Old Port Royale then walk to make the most of it :cool1:

:earsboy: Thanks for for the quick response, the advice is excellent. It seems that the trick is to pick the right island on the resort. We have booked through Travel City, does anyone know if you can pre book your preferred location at the resort through them?

i think you would just need to phone or fax your request through to the resort a couple of days before you arrive. We requested to be placed in one or 3 islands, and it was met, but i dont know if they took any notice of it or they actually met our requests.
I remeber reading that the islands closest the Old Port Royale are now considrered prefered and cost an extra $20 per night, i think.

You might want to read the CBR FAQ's threads listed below. The preferred villages are Trinidad North and Martinique costing $15 extra nightly.

I have lots of pictures and the resort map up on my website listed below.
