I just booked us at CBR in November...I've read a few reviews here and there about the long walk to food...is there a way to request a room closer to the dining area and if there is what are the sections of this resort that are closer to it?

Also if you've stayed here did you like it? We've stayed at the Contemporary and the Yacht Club before and are staying at POFQ in August...any feedback on this resort would be great!;)

We stayed at CBR in Jamaica last year which is right across the bridge. It took about 6 minutes to walk to OPR where the food court, pool, arcade is located. And it's a beautiful relaxing walk. Aruba is the same distance. If you want to be right next to food court/pool those are preferred rooms and Martinique and North Trinidad on either side.

We loved the resort itself. After staying at BC and BWI I was nervous about going down to mod but it was a very beautiful quiet resort and we can't wait to return.

CBR was a huge pleasant surprise for our family. We loved it. Not sure we can go anywhere else now. And we've been to other mods and AKL savannah view as well.

The long walk situation is greatly exaggerated in my opinion.

Really beautiful grounds.

The rooms closest to Old Port Royale, where the food court and TS restaurant are, would be preferred rooms which you can upgrade to for a cost. Otherwise, your best bet is to request a room in Aruba or Jamaica which, as mentioned, are right across the bridge. We were in Jamaica 46 last time. You walk down the sidewalk from your room to the main path, across the bridge, following the path by the playground, and that brings you out by the pool. I would say 6 minutes is a good estimate. It's not a stone's throw, but it's the closest without being in preferred.

If you can, pay for preferred. Otherwise while you can request a room close to the food court there is no guarantee you will get it. And make no mistake, CBR is huge. The size of it is the main reason I am not a fan after my one stay. 7 bus stops is too many! If you get on at the first stop (which is typically Jamaica) you ride around for 15 minutes before even heading out to the parks. Sometimes they do divide the resort up so that one bus doesn't have to make the whole loop, but not always.

I honestly would not stay at CBR again without paying for preferred, or without having my own car.

We were in a standard room in Jamaica when we stayed at CBR- the walks weren't bad at all. The buses on the other hand....

Couldn't agree more. We really liked the decor, pool, and food court. But the transportation was something else. Since we utilize transportation more than anything else, we just grew increasingly frustrated over the course of our stay. I'd only stay again if I had a rental car.

If you have a standard room, look at the map and make sure to put a room request in. I'd suggest Aruba 51, Jamaica 45 or Martinque 22. Preferred rooms are closest to OPR but those are a bookable category. I love CBR, it's my favorite resort. Yes the walks can be long, but they can be just as long at other hotels. I stayed at YC last September and to walk to the marketplace to get drink refills was just as long as walks at CBR. You can always take the internal bus if you do not want to walk to OPR.

that was our experience. The bridge was closed last fall when we went so we often drove to breakfast. but we also walked around the resort a good bit. I thought walking was worse when we were at POR.
