Has anyone done this yet? We thought it might be fun on one of our non-Park days and wondered if it was worthwhile.

I haven't done this either, but I'm really interested too. It sounds lovely. :)

I've done it, but at Ft. Wilderness. We (my BF and I) went around 8pm in Dec. and it was dark. Great for a romantic ride. Basically it's a carriage that seats 4 and it's $30 for a half hour. We went along a path that went through the woods of Ft. Wilderness. Our driver was Linda and the horse was Scotty.

We enjoyed it very much!!! :smooth:

bump.

I cant find anything on the one at port orleans??????

I think I printed this off Deb Wills site. It's this only info I have.

"Disney's Port Orleans Resort is now offering Guests 1/2 hour horse-drawn carriage rides thru the French Quarter and Riverside each night. Starting in front of Boatwright's Dining Hall at 6 pm the carriage rides cost $30(inc. tax) and can accommodate up to four adults, or two adults and two or three children. The rides are popular, so early reservations (which can be made at Riverside Marina near the main Building) are recommended. The last ride each night departs from Boatwright's at 9:30 p.m."

Thought it sounded like fun but hope someone can share their experience!

Can't say that I've done it myself... (perhaps one day if the right person presents themselves) but as I drive through the resort, I've seen other people doing it. It looks LOVELY... makes me want to stop my bus, and hop on the carriage... lol :)

We had thought about doing this when we stayed at POR in December, but we never got around to it unfortunately...It did look like fun though...the kids got to pat the horse and Savannah kissed his nose! LOL...Extremely clean animal is all I can say and the driver was very cheerful and happy to answer any questions we had! :)

That is so sad Tyler! Next visit, I'll book the carriage and you can ride with us. My husband never travels with us so we'll have an empty seat!:p LOL!!

I strongly suggest you book this in advance, they sell out much of the time.

I haven't done it--DS looked into it for my B-Day before he decided to charter the Grand 1 instead. Seems like a very reasonable price.

Having just enjoyed the one at Port Orleans, I would have to vote for it. Our ride was one of the last of the evening, and a carriage ride at night through both resorts really fits in well with the theme of the resorts.

Just imagine - a slow ride in the evening, the stars twinkling above. Above the sound of the horse's hooves going "clomp-clomp" you hear the quiet sounds of other guests ambling about, children playing with delight at the pools, the boat from DTD making it's way along the Sassagoula, the waves lapping along the sides of the river. You see the reflections of the mansions and the streetlamps broken up on the waters surface.

Life is good ! You think it can't get any better than this ! You look over at your darling, your eyes meet and you [ deleted : this is a family board ].

Unfortunately, the carriage-person told us never to come back - said we scared the horse.
