We are adding on a bedroom and extending our living room. I was thinking of carpet. I have no carpet in our house, just rugs, except for some ancient flat carpet in our bedroom which is not even attached. It is literally probably 50 years old and will be leaving! So I know nothing about carpet.

I like this:

Does frieze wear well? I did read nylon is better than poly, and this appears to be a poly. And that you need to be careful of your vacuum's beater bar frizzing it.

What type of carpet do you like and why? What should I take into consideration?

We have frieze, I like it because it is softer, cushier, and just feels better. Getting stains out can be a challenge (my 3 yo got playdoh in it), but if you don't have little kids I wouldn't worry about that.

We have nylon, we wanted something more durable than poly because it is in a hallway as well as the bedrooms and the hallway is a high traffic area. For just a bedroom, ply would probably be ok. I've had no trouble with frizzing from the vacuum.

Get the best pad you can afford, that is important. A thin, crummy pad will make even the best carpet feel thin and will cause it to wear fast. Don't skimp and go cheap on the carpet pad.
