WE will be in DLR from July 12-16th. We are traveling with DH, DD-4, DD 9 months and mother and sister in law are joining us. I was orginally thining of the CCI and booking 2 rooms. . But started researching and came across the Carousel Inn's Kids Suites....

Any thoughts?

We stayed at the Carousel Inn & Suites a couple of weeks ago and really liked it. We did not stay in kids suites however. We had two connecting rooms. The rooms were very clean had enough room for me, DH and my DS6 and DD2 (my mom and sister were in the other room). It was great as far as location, walk right out of the gates of DL, cross the street pass a couple of hotels and your there. There is a Mcdonnalds right next door, and a Quiznos right on site. Downsides are not alot of parking, they charge $5.00 a night for parking and a $2.00 per night resort fee. Also they mentioned a $75.00 fee if you check out before the date you originally put down as you checkout date. We didn't eat the breakfast so I cant say anything about that, also we did not do any swimming. There was a coffee pot, fridge and microwave in the rooms. Our rooms both had hardwood floors and plantation shutters. I accidentally left my purse with my wallet in the room one day, along with my ipod, and when we returned from DL that night, everything was just as I left it, even though housekeeping had been in to clean. I would probably stay there again if I wasnt planning on doing any swimming (I saw somewhere the pool is pretty small) due to its EXCELLENT location!

Just made ressie"s for mid-August kids suite. Curious about this place, breakfast and all. Switching fom RI maingate sine two of the olders one's will be staying home due to work committments.

From personal experience I wouldnt stay here again. They do have a tiny pool on the roof with no hottub. They charged .75 for local calls and even when I called home collect or used my calling card, which I dont think is fair.
The breakfast was OK, except for a moldy jam. Rooms were OK I guess. But after I stayed at Hojo's I wouldnt stay anywhere else again. Beautiful grounds, great pool, no breakfast but that never mattered. Close and great pricing.

Hope this helps.

We stayed at the Carousel while friends stayed at the CCI. We both prefered the Carousel, the pros and cons of both hotels are:

Carousel is very close CCI is over half a mile away
Carousel rooms are bigger (even CCIs delux room)
CCI has beautiful grounds
CCI has its own shuttle
Carousel was cheaper
Carousel includes a microwave in all rooms

I have never stayed at Carousel, but we love CCI. The staff is so friendly and helpful, plus the shuttle is great when you are really tired at night.

We just got back from our first stay at the Carousel.

We had a room with 2 queen beds. We stayed in room 511.

My first impression with the front desk was very positive. They were very kind and helpful. I booked our reservation through Orbitz (got the room for $82.00 per night). No hassles whatsoever. (Side note: the furniture in the lobby is funky....looks like it came from Africa)

The room was clean, didn't have any smells, and beds were comfy. The beds were more soft than hard (they could have been just a tad firmer, but I like a soft bed too.)

The bathroom was nice and I think was of the same standard as HoJo and the Fairfield (where we have stayed the past 2 trips).

We did eat breakfast. Here is what they had to offer:

3 different cereals (oatmeal, cheerios, raisin bran) with milk. I read a posting that they didn't provide milk and this is WRONG. The milk is in one of those big stainless steel dispensers like they have in cafeterias..so maybe the poster didn't recognize it as milk? who knows. But, they have milk.

Ok, they also have whole wheat and white bread for toast. Butter and jelly are provided.

There were assorted pastries and donuts (but some had frosting and sprinkles and the kids liked those!) These were not fancy, but my kids enjoyed them. There was also red delicious apples and oranges.

Coffee, tea, milk, orange juice and apple juice were the drinks provided.

They also had breakfast sandwiches for sale ($2) provided by Quiznos. We didn't buy one...they looked pretty puny.

The room the breakfast is served in is lovely. It has a great view of DL and CA.

Honestly, on a normal day a small bowl of cereal and coffee is all I require. It was nice having the option of breakfast even if it wasn't fancy.

Overall, I enjoyed our stay. The location cannot be beat. The walk to the hotel isn't that much farther than waiting for the shuttles!

One other note, there is a fridge and microwave in the room. The fridge is oversized...bigger than the normal dorm room sized fridge. Which would be nice if you are staying for a few days.

Hope that helps...I would stay there again. Of the Fairfield, HoJo's and the Carousel - I would recommend them all. It always depends on availability and price...but we very much enjoyed our Carousel stay.

Do you remember what time they opened for breakfast? Thanks for the wonderful description.
