Hello all. I wanted to get some opinions from the DISers. :goodvibes

For our upcoming trip, DH and I will be on our own. We are tried and true loyal members of the HoJo fan club. However, the retro rate is not available for the weekend that we are traveling, and so I thought I'd look at a couple of options. Mainly, I am looking for choices which might be special for just the two of us. I discovered that I can book a King room at club level at the Carousel for about $80 more than a standard King room at the HoJo, even with a 20% discount for our APs. Has anyone stayed in this type of room at the Carousel? Is it worth it?

After reading some other threads, I am also curious about how the parking works at Carousel. We always rent a car, and we typically use the car at least once or twice during our stay. Will that be a nightmare? How much is the parking "surcharge?"

DIS is one of the few hotels on Harbor than can have parking problems. When it's full you may have to park far, far away if no spots are left, in thier remote lot.

I believe the concierge rooms come with free valet service.

Thanks, skiingfast. :goodvibes

Has anyone stayed in a King room at club level? And/or does anyone have pictures of that type of room or one that is similar? I can't seem to find any other than one small pic on their website.

Okay...never mind. I just spent a couple of hours reading travelers' reviews, and it looks as if the Carousel has steadily decreased in quality and customer satisfaction. I don't think I am willing to risk trying something new which might be disappointing rather than staying at the HoJo, which we know we will enjoy.

I just stayed in a concierge queen suite at the Carousel two weeks ago, and I was very pleased! The room was clean & spacious, the staff was nothing less than fantastic, and the walk was much shorter than HoJo! One bonus we loved was the $10 coupons for Quiznos they give you for every day of your stay. We got two bottles of water and 2 orange juice every day for less than two dollars! The rooms are at the back of the hotel, and super quiet for having outdoor walkways.

Just wanted to give you a picture of our great experience, I say don't count out the Carousel, as I really enjoyed our stay :D

Riniel, was parking a "hassle"? We will literally only be parking when we arrive and needing the car when we leave at the end of the weekend.

The problems are; the parking lot is tight, common for a few of the hotels there built before SUVS existed. Some like the Carousel have overflow remote parking which is worse because it can be 15 or 20 minutes away.

If you are showing up midday not during a very busy period you should be able to find spots. If you come when it's super busy or mild crowds and it's after parks closing, there may be no spots left. The only problems I've had with this when I arrive park the car and don't get back in until I leave, is I could only get in or out of the car from one side, which hasn't always been the driver side.

Skiingfast is right, the parking is tight (most cars are two deep on both sides, and very little space to turn around). But if you utilize the valet service, you won't have to worry about parking or retrieving your own car. As long as you leave yourself enough time for the valet to get your car, you shouldn't have a problem!
