Carnival Liberty engine room fire

It has to be something, even with as many ships as they have the seem to have a higher rate of more substantial issues. I thought with all the bad press of the Triumph they would have been more on top of items like maintenance to keep their name out of the press.

Did think about starting a thread here, because it cracked me up reading some threads on CC. People complaining about Carnivals prices going up and items like the lobster going away on shorter cruises. And just like on this board someone chimed in that CCL won't change back there policies until people stop cruising. Looks like a lot of lines are cutting stuff like DCL is, grass may no be greener if we decide to switch lol

Agree 100%, it will just be cheaper grass! I was reading the same thread on CC earlier and evert time someone commented about how expensive CCL was getting, I just kept thinking go check out the DCL website, then let's talk expensive. Nonetheless I am excited to try CCL next year on the new Vista, now if I could only score a Havana Cabana.

Its not just CC that has been making more and more cuts and prices going up, but most lines are including RCCL and NCL. Their forums are talking and complaining more and more. Folks have reported on RCL the newer ships are sometimes more the DCL.

As to the fires and breakdowns..............yes there is continuing issues and the numbers are far out weighting the more ships story. The good part is no one has been hurt.

Sorry, I just will not take the chance of a CC cruise!

Cutting staff and amenities is one thing.Cutting maintenance that could, and possibly caused fires and "mechanical malfunctions" is another. The grass might be greener, but is it as safe to be on?

We are looking at 2 other lines, Celebrity and Princess, but based on my wife's coworkers experiences on CCL we will most likely never sail the line. Plus they soured my Dad on cruising for life, about 8 years ago he went on a CCL cruise and the lost a motor and essentially did circles in the ocean and went back to port. Unfortunately we have never been able to get him on a DCL ship.

I really struggle with the fact that they are still having issues after the Triumph and other ship that lost power on the west coast. Tells me that they haven't learned from those issues. Stuff does happen, how a company responds to it tells you a lot about a company, and CCL doesn't look good right now.
