Carnival is very generous with the compensation. What would DCL have done.? A plate of chocolate covered strawberries? just kidding. Since Disney owns most of the media I don't think they have to worry about bad publicity as much as Carnival.Having experienced a couple of plumbing related floods in our own home over the years, I know all too well these things do happen, despite how well you try to maintain things. Damage can swift and severe if not caught in time and handled properly. It sounds as if Carnival handled this as well as could have been expected and certainly stepped up with their compensation to the affected guests. Good for them!
When we were on the Magic in November the Edge flooded and they had to shut it down for a couple of days. I wouldn't mind a little convenience for a full refund, free flights home, and half off another cruise,
I'm glad you're confident that makes me feel so much better.Big difference between a tween club and staterooms where people are living for the duration of the cruise and have their stuff in there.
I'm not saying that it couldn't or wouldn't happen on Disney in living areas. But I have more confidence than you do in Disney's ability to make it right (and not just because they own ABC) if it was affecting people's stuff and where they are supposed to be living and sleeping.
Obviously these people have never been on deck two of the Magic when the army of wet vacs have been out in full force.I saw this posted in one of the DCL fan groups on FB and multiple people said of course this would happen on a cheaper line, this is why we sail Disney, Disney would never let this happen. Ummm....the koolaid is tasty today? Lol.
Can't say whether it's true for this situation or not, but, typically, the "50% off future cruise" wording means you get 50% of the cost the cruise you are currently on. So that someone in an inside room, can't use it to get 50% off a verandah room.+ 50% off the next cruise
They also got a full refund and free flights home. Most people tend to book the same type of room so if that is true which we don't know if it is...it's still very good compensation. The flooding was on deck 9 which Is one of the more expensive decks. Can't say whether it's true for this situation or not, but, typically, the "50% off future cruise" wording means you get 50% of the cost the cruise you are currently on. Put it this way. If it happened on Disney, it would be a headline. If on Carnival - shrug - stuff happens.I saw this posted in one of the DCL fan groups on FB and multiple people said of course this would happen on a cheaper line, this is why we sail Disney, Disney would never let this happen.
