Caring for Giants cancelled through 9/25 due to storm damage

I received notice that our Caring for Giants class has been cancelled for this weekend due to storm damage. We were put into the Caring for Giants class as a substitution after our YES class was cancelled. Storm damage seems out of their control but closing the YES program when classes were already booked feels like it could have been preventable. I'm mostly disappointed because we've considered doing a YES class for years but the timing never worked out (we usually visited during months YES wasn't offered) and now that it was finally going to happen, it didn't happen. And the consolation meet-the-elephants isn't happening either. Sigh.

Just to clarify that the tour and Yes class are not the same. As of this morning, both The HUB and MDE are both showing that the tour is available for booking.

It shouldn't have anything available for booking this weekend though? My letter from Disney says:

I am sorry to inform you that the Caring for Giants program at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is currently closed through Monday, September 25th. Although Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park will be open during this time, the backstage location associated with this program remains closed due to the recent storms in our area. We currently have no confirmed date when we re-open.

You currently have a reservation for 5 @ 10:30 am Sunday, 9/24. If you would like to re-schedule for a date after 9/25, please reply with your future date and time preferences. Programs run 7 days a week, with 10 sessions a day, starting between 9:30am and 4:00pm.

My previous letter back in June from Disney:

Thank you for your interest in Disney Youth Programs at the Walt Disney World Resort and for registering for our Disney YES Individual Enrollment programs. I regret to inform you that these programs have been cancelled for the remainder of the year due to restricted availability in our parks while we undergo construction. We apologize for this inconvenience and want you to have as much notice as possible.

The program cancellation will not impact your theme park ticket usage at our theme parks. Please continue to enjoy the parks with these specially priced tickets that you purchased.

We would like to recommend a family-friendly tour at Disney’s Animal Kingdom called Caring for Giants. Our team can assist YES Individual Enrollment registrants with signing up for this unique experience. Our records indicate you had (4) guests registered to attend programming.

If you have additional family members who have admission tickets, but were not registered for a YES IE Program they may also book this tour for $30.00 by calling 407-WDW-TOUR.

I'm shocked, MDE, The HUB and the Tour Reservations staff are not in sync with the real world.

That is amusing. And now they've written back and offered a choice of alternate experiences! So now I have nothing to complain about.

Hmm. Now I'm concerned. I have a Giants tour scheduled for 9/24 & I didn't get an email.

But are you really shocked?
Surely not unusual for the left hand to not speak with the right hand

As noted here, already they've changed things on the OP
Lack of thorough coordination in large companies never ceases to amaze me.
