Caribbean Beach Resort ** NEWS & VIEWS **

ok, need help. We booked our trip thru AAA for the CBR in Nov. AAA called us and offered us POR, POFQ, and CS. We chose to switch to POR. As much as this resort sounds nice, an upgrade would be even better. But my question is, because it's thru AAA and they did not offer an upgrade, should we call back and ask about this? I would love to stay at a deluxe for a little more!!
Any help would be great. :)

wolf11,

if you want the upgrade, you should ask your agent to talk to the CBR specialist directly and ask for it.

Those of you who have taken W/L upgrades...What was your actual rate before tax and is that for Std, Woods or Courtyward?

Am wondering because I took matters in own hands and switched from CBR to W/L on my own without going through the 'team'. Actually someone on the CBR team passed me to a reservationist to cancel and rebook. I'm just wondering if I got taken.

Thanks...

We booked thru AAA and we upgraded to AKL for 22 (with tax) a night. We are going Sept 14-21. We wanted the Poly but it was not available during that time period. We could have gotten AKL or WL standard view for only $10 more but I requested the savannah view at AKL and got it (Already stayed at WL before and wanted to try something different)

Looking forward to seeing all the animals.....:bounce:

During one of my efforts last night to reach the CBR special team, I spoke with an operator at reservations who not only was rude and not every helpful, but made an unbelievable comment.

Are you ready for this, fellow DIS Board-ers?????

I asked her to connect me to the special team. She refused. Someone will call me in a week or two to take care of it, she told me.

Wait a minute, I said. There are all these people on the DIS Board writing in, saying they had no problem and got great deals by calling in.

She told me that's not happening. "You'd be surprised at the untrue things people say on the Internet," she said.

I said, "On the DIS Boards?" When I mentioned how everyone quoted hotels and prices, etc, she interrupted and said she could transfer me, but I would probably be put on hold for over a half hour. "Do you want to be put on hold for that long?" she asked.

I said no, and goodbye.

She basically called the dozens of people who wrote in on this subject liars. I was stunned. This is not the kind of customer service I have come to know and expect from Disney.

PS. A few minutes later, I called again so I could get a different operator. She put me right through, and shortly, an outstanding woman named Cotton set me up with new ressies at the Poly.

after a week of waiting & reading this board convinced me into calling yesturday . an hour on hold got me to a specialist who helped me with a few questions .
1st dont wait ... . "waiting for the call only increases your chances of losing out on an upgrade ."straight from disneys specialist .
i was unable to get the polynesian for the full trip , so i split reservations & was required to leave a 2nd deposit for the 2nd hotel .
so if your looking for an upgrade call now dont wait . they only had 2 deluxe choices left for the week were going & only the akl for the entire stay .( plenty of moderates left) ....
"the deluxes will sell out before the moderate s fill up . "
good luck

KFISCHER, I agree that Cotton was great. She really helped us get everything taken care of easily and quickly. I think the whole process took only about 15 minutes - good thing for Free nights and weekends on the Cell phone

After reading so many testimonials on this and other boards regarding the upgrades, I couldn't wait any longer. I called yesterday and after a 45 minute hold, I was able to upgrade to the Poly. I actually had to call back twice (cell phone dropped), and both people I talked to were very helpful. The second time I called back was later at night (8:45 CST) and the wait was a lot shorter. I would recommend calling. The peace of mind is well worth it. I was in Limbo. Now I can make the rest of my plans.

Good Luck!!

I have been following this entire thread and haven't seen anyone who switched over to CSR from CBR like we did.
Is anybody out there going to be staying at CSR?

No, I called them last Thursday because after reading all the post I was afraid everything would be full and I was right. But the lady who was working on our new ressi went out sick and no one else could help us because the Poly was full and they couldn't get us in. I got upset because I didn't think she saved our room while she fixed a problem we had since I booked room only on our first night. We will be there Nov 2 to the 10 and the first night was not value season so I didn't want to do the whole package from that day. I would not wait for the call since everything is filling up. Chris:

I think a lot of people are taking advantage of the great rates to stay at a Deluxe and not a Moderate. I know I would never stay at the Poly for rack rate or even the discounted rates. My "upgrade" rate is so low I just couldn't pass it up and I am very excited to be at the Poly for Christmas. I really have always wanted to stay there, but could not bring myself to pay for it.

BUT ... I think your "lateral" move over to CSR is kind of an upgrade too. Many of the codes that were available for CBR were not available for CSR. If you booked under one of those codes and are now staying at CSR you are still getting an upgrade, IMO. If you are regretting your decision to move laterally, you might be able to call CRO and the CBR team and still get an upgrade to a Deluxe. Personally, I think you'll be happy where ever you end up. You'll be at Disneyworld!

Hi Robinb !

No, I'm not regretting our move over to CSR at all :D
I'm actually very happy and excited to be staying at a resort that is new to us........I have even made myself a screensaver with some borrowed CSR pictures to help hype us up :Pinkbounc

I was just wondering if anyone else had moved over to CSR as well.
I totally understand why most of you would be taking the upgrade with such great offers!! I hope you have a blast staying at such a dream resort !!

And your right----I will be happy just because I am at DisneyWorld!!

Can anyone tell me which resorts they are offering for 11/3-11/9. We are already booked at poly conceirge but my brother and his family were at CBR. My sister in law was told by her AAA travel agent to wait until she got down there, drive to any "deluxe" resort and see what they could get. Since I am only the SIL and not the travel agent, she won't listen to me and is going to do what the travel agent said. Hopefully, I can make my brother see the light but I wanted to know what might be available first.

Thanks for all your help,

Laura in PA

Laura,
I'm a little confused. The travel agent is telling her to wait until she gets there?Where is she supposed to be staying now that CBR is closed?
If her travel agent told her to drive around to different hotels this agent must be a ROOKIE!Her job is to accomodate her client not have her client drive around looking for a room!!!!!!!!!!And who knows what ,if any ,will be available?
Tell her NOT to take her agents advice!Or at least find another agent if she is uncomfortable doing it herself!
Kim

antkim,

You have it right. That is what the travel agent said. My darling SIL won't listen to me and everything that I have told her from this board!!!!! I just don't want my brother or his 2 little girls to be miserable. To top it off, they are driving from PA and won't get there until very late at night.

Sometimes it just doesn't pay to be nice...but I keep trying.

Laura

Yippie!!!

After 5 phone calls I finally got through to the team-I did'nt even have to hold.I have been alittle nervous about this since i heard stories of not getting the better upgrade with the DC Package>I was offered the AKL for $10.00 more a night and poly for $20.00 a night.I wanted a split stay but they would not do that so I first thought I would do AKL but eventually decided on the poly(what a decision).I am sure that they both would have been a great choice as we have never been to WDW.Anyway I wanted to thank everyone for their support and advice, you have all been agreat help in this planning process. Thanks again!!:D

Lori(now poly nov 15-21):Pinkbounc :bounce:

PS I spoke with skylar who was very patient and helpful.

Laura,
Tell your SIL that I am a liscensed TA(not working in an agency right now-stay at home mom!)and what she has been told is WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She can email me at antkim@prodigy.net if she wants. You just CANNOT drive around looking for a room. The only other thing I can think of is MAYBE she misunderstood what the agent was telling her.I could NEVER imagine telling someone that they should drive around and find the best deal! What happens if there is NO place available? And where is her deposit being tranfered to?SHE NEEDS TO CALL BACK!And if she doesn't agree maybe your brother need to interfere!
GOOD LUCK!
Kim
