we stayed at Martinique w/o paying any extra. We just called the week before we left home and that building was suggested when I talked to a CM. They put us in there. I never knew it was an extra cost building till I came back home. We were not charged any extra at all - we had already paid in full 45 days before leaving home and at check out there was no additional charges at all. So, you CAN get Martinique for no extra.

Stayed 4/22- 5/1/05

You more than likley got an upgrade if you were in Martinique building 24, 25, or 26 (those are the preferred locations). If people do want to gaurntee that they are in a preferred location then they should book a preferred location.

I wouldn't go expecting to be in a preferred location without paying. Upgrades do happen but not as often as it appears here on the DIS.

I don't know if this has been asked already, but CBR DOES particpate in EMH don't they? Is the bus service at CBR reliable to get ppl to and from the parks on EMH days? TIA! :flower:

yes, it's an onsite Disney owned hotel, so they do participate in EMH. The busses were reliable for that.

We were in building 26, yes, it was a nice perk that we didn't have to pay for.

I have always found the bus service at CBR to be reliable. It takes about 5-7 minutes or so to drive around the resort to pick up people at all of the stops (there are 7 stops total) and then you are off to the parks. Busses will always start running prior to park opening and way after a park closes. For EMH days the busses will run even earlier and/or later depending on if the park is open early or later.

You have to pay attention to the BUS itself....they have INTERNAL BUSSES, and Busses to the parks at EACH stop. ;) If you get on an INTERNAL bus, you have to get off at the next stop and wait for the Park one to arrive. I mostly waited at the food court area, as this was where I was most of the time.

What a vacation we had...we stayed in Trinadad North, room 3303. I had requested Martinique but they were booked. They did honor my request to be near the bus stop...what a nice feeling at the end of a busy day at the parks to be only a few steps away from the bus.

The service was great, Magical Express worked out perfectly. The Dining plan was AWESOME!!!!! The resort was beautiful, room was very clean. CM's were very nice. My husband and 2 boys (ages 9 and 7) LOVED the main pool. We were a little disapointed in the hot tub. Very small and seemed like the jets were not really on when we were in it. The only other complaint was the shower. We felt like the water pressure was very low.

Old Port Royal was great...the food was prety good. We always found something we would eat. The grab and go had a good variety of pastries, muffins, sandwiches...things like that. My boys Loved the arcade.

We went on the beach, relaxed in a hammock or on the lounge chairs. A duck came right up to me...really cute!

This resort was beauitful...we felt like we could have stayed at just the resort without going to the parks. We all had a wonderful time. I am sad to be home. :sad2:

Any questions...feel free to ask!

welcome back Loralie. I just love CBR. I'm not sure how often I'll be back there since I've joined DVC, but you can bet I'll be back. It's so relaxing and inviting wasn't it! I'm glad you had a great trip.

This may have been asked before, but i thought I heard that all rooms at CBR have small refridgerators. I know some small refridgerators also have little freezer compartments. Is this the case here or is it just a fridge? A freezer would be nice to freeze a bottle of water for the park each day.

Thanks!

Hi Andrea,

I don't know about the other rooms but ours was just a fridge. I thought it would have been nice to freeze a bottle too but the fridge worked out great. We brought "crystal light on the go" and filled up the empty water bottles with that at night before we went to sleep this way when we got up in the morning we had something right there in the room to drink (we are not coffee drinkers) before we headed to the food court.

Have fun,

Loralie

My boys are curious about the arcade... they said that they read that all of the games are free, I just don't think that they are right but I can't argue with them because I can't find out that info...

I do not recall the games being free.

The games aren't free, but they're not that expensive either. You put money in a machine by the entrance to the arcade, and it gives you a card that you can then swipe at each game. When you swipe the card, it tells you how many "points" you have to use on that game, and how many you now have left. My DS11 figured it out a lot faster than I did! There's a pretty good variety of games, enough so that they spent about an hour in there without blinking! But there's so much else to do at CBR they only went in there on the last day we were there!

one day they had to close the pool cause of severe weather. On this day the arcade games were free. Otherwise you had to pay.

:goodvibes Thanks everyone... with 2 boys this info is invaluble! However, I am hoping that they won't really want to spend much time in there anyhow... but the rainy day thing is very cool...

If I am paying the extra money for a king size bed, do we pay extra on top of that for preferred building?

Just to note, you cannot book a king size bed and a preferred location at the time. It has to be one or the other. A king size bed can be located any where on CBR property.

Safety Mom....I figure you are the one to ask this question to...I will be arriving next week at the CBR..I have the Land/Sea package thru Disney Cruise Line. My question is this..I have heard they lump all cruise people in one section to keep us all together---if this is the case do you know where they put us? I was really hoping to get the village of Jamaica. I added 4 extra nights onto our vacation so we will be there a full week--if that makes any difference. Thank you so much for your help...   11 more days!!!!!!

At CBR we put the land/see pkgs any where we want to. There is no specific section for them.

I was just wondering if there are ajoining rooms at the resort? we booked two rooms. another question, do we just request rooms beside one another if there are no ajoining rooms? any help you can give is greatly appreciated and if you already listed this somewhere else in this thread sorry.... it was 22 pages long and i didn't really wanna read them all.... thanks

We were there 4/2-4/8, and had requested adjoining rooms. We got them, no problem, and everything was great!
