Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

We stayed at the CBR in 2003..to date the best WDW vacation yet & it was due to the CBR. Our family (mom, dad, & 3 kids) loved the resort & would go back again except now the little one is over 3. :guilty:

We were in 2525 (martinique). We got upgraded at check in to a corner room (2 windows) water view...perfect..we could see the EPCOT fireworks from our room! At that time they did charge for a preferred room, so maybe that is new? Anyway that building (25) is closest to the food court, pools, lake, & transport. We got towels animals daily. Mousekeeping was very good. The food court had alot of variety & reasonable prices by Disney standards. On our arrival day, we got the kids chicken nuggets & fries at the food court & it came in a beach pail with a shovel! They played with that on the beach later..very fun.

When we last stayed at CBR they weren't charging for preferred rooms and we were in Trinidad North. We had a water view which we booked and it was beautiful. We have decided to switch our ressie from POR to CBR for our next trip. My question is, if you book the preferred section (which I am) do you pay extra on top of that for a water view? Also Old Port Royale is that pronounced Royal or Roy- Al? :)

That is on top of a water view price. Personally I would skip the water view and just go with the preferred. The water view can be creative and since you really can't see it from the room I don't pay for water view anymore. Being close to Old Port Roy al(e) and the main pool is worth it.

Thank you. I agree about not paying for the water view. We have in the past but stopped because the only time we actually got a good water view was at CBR.

Hi MickiMouth! :scared:I have a question for ya...I requested to stay at Trinidad North thinking it was the closest to OPR and would be just a short walk away from the main pool. I guess my question is, how was your stay there? Was OPR easy to walk to? How was the bus service there? Were there any cons?

Sorry for all the questions, but now I'm worried:sad2:...I'm hearing all this talk about Jamaica being the best to stay at?? Pls help :confused3

Trinidad North is a preferred village costing $15 nightly extra to stay there. Jamaica is a popular location because it is just across the bridge from Old Port Royale and the main pool.

Trinidad North is probably a shorter walk but if you want to save some money request Jamaica. There is a bus stop at every village and also at Old Port Royale.

We love CBR!!!! One question, do they have king beds in the prefered section? The only problem we have with CBR is how far we have to walk to get to Port Royale! We are planning our honeymoon for Sept. and would love to stay there again! Just wish they had those king beds in the prefered section. Stayed in Jamaica last time.

Thanks so much!:)

The king beds are scattered throughout the resort. I am sure there are some kings in the preferred buildings.

As far as I know all the rooms are decorated the same. The furniture is green. Not sure where the other colors are.

And thinking of staying again in Nov. I kind of miss the theme, and I had a King room in Trinadad South. I slept like a baby, and hardly heard noise of any kind. Hoping this time to get a building closer to the Main area. ;)

is the playground far from the preferred locations buildings? really trying to narrow down the building choice. cant decide if better to do jamacia or preferred location.

You could always go to the playground at Jamaica and still stay in a preferred location. I am a big fan of the preferred locations if you want to be close to the main pool and food court.

If I am paying the extra money for a king size bed, do we pay extra on top of that for preferred building?

Safety Mom....I figure you are the one to ask this question to...I will be arriving next week at the CBR..I have the Land/Sea package thru Disney Cruise Line. My question is this..I have heard they lump all cruise people in one section to keep us all together---if this is the case do you know where they put us? I was really hoping to get the village of Jamaica. I added 4 extra nights onto our vacation so we will be there a full week--if that makes any difference. Thank you so much for your help...   11 more days!!!!!!

We will be at CBR at the end of June/beginning of July. We have been on the fence about whether to rent a car or rely on Disney transportation. We have a mini van reserved, but the decision is still a hard one. We have only stayed at MK resorts before and are a little concerned we will be unhappy with the buses at CBR (recent reports about how crowded the buses are make us a little nervous since we are traveling with 4 kids...9, 8, 4, and 6 months and a grandmother). Anyway, my real question involves transportation for an 8:05 PS/AR at CRT for our dd's birthday. We had planned to use the early breakfast bus, but we have learned this has been discontinued at some resorts. This is especially tricky since even a rental car may not give us access to MK an hour before opening. That leaves only a taxi option, but it seems ridiculous to rent a car and still need to use a taxi service (and we would probably need 2 taxis for the size of our group). Plus, will we first need to take an internal bus to the Custom house to get the taxi or can we get one are our building (we have a preferred section reserved). Basically, I am looking for any recent experience with the early breakfasts and any opinions regarding CBR buses... 1) do we rent a car or use Disney transport? 2) How do we get to that breakfast on time?

tam012864, we've done a couple of land/sea vacations, although not at CBR - we were at the Contemporary and then the Poly. As I recall, we were asked by our travel agent about room preferences each time - we asked for and got an MK view at CR and a building close to TTC at the Poly. This was a few years ago, and things may have changed. But the check-in process for those stays was no different from those at our subsequent land only vacations - we mentioned our preferences to the front desk CM and discussed what was available. If you did this through a travel agent, you might ask if you can specify a preference on your reservation. Can't hurt.
