Only 33 more days!!!! :hyper:  :cheer2:

This thread has been such a great help and loaded with information! Thanks to everyone for their comments. :thanks: Sounds like the construction will be done when we get there (Nov. 28th).

We have the same check in date! :cool1: It's getting so close now! We have been watching our countdown ticker for 11 months. :surfweb:
 :cheer2: :dance3:

There is wine for sale in the gift shop.

By chance, will they open it for you or should I pack a small opener? Thanks!!!

Also, how is the hair dryer that's in the room? Is it decent for straightening shoulder length hair? Thanks again!!

I'm not sure about the wine either but I agree with Safetymom.....bring your own hair dryer. They don't blow hard enough for me. I always bring my own.

Thanks for the pictures of the CBR construction Safetymom...it's sad to see everything all closed up -- but I'm sure the outcome will be wonderful! Can't wait to see it!!!

Note at the top of this thread says

Barbados Village Pool will be closed for refurbishment October 22-24, 2007

Does anyone have any pictures of the refurbed pool? We may be staying in Barbados for our upcoming trip :goodvibes Is the slide there?

No slides in the quiet pools by each village - only in the main pool near Old Port Royale.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!!

They are adding slides to Jamaica and Barbados pools since the main pool will be closing. I didn't walk over there to see if the slides had been added.

What is being referred to is the fact that when Old Port Royale's pool is closed for total renovation for about 10 months, Barbados' and Jamaica's quiet pools will have pool slides installed, in order to provide some pool slide experience to CBR guests during the main pool rehab.

We are arriving in approx. 34 days and I just thought of a question that I hadn't thought of. We have booked a Preferred Room, which I know puts us over by OPR. So, onto the question: We are using our Debit card as a link to the KTTK card for charging privileges, and I know that it is done in $1000 increments. If we hit the $1000 and still have a few days left and want to have more put on, do we have to go to the Custom House to have this done, or will it be done automatically. Last year we signed a form that did it automatically for us at WL, but since it was all right there in one building if we had questions, it was easily right there. At CBR, there is quite a bit of travel between the buildings so I need to figure out what to do before we leave. Thank you, if you have any info.

It seems it depends on the front desk CM who checks you in. Some people report having a new room charge automatically start. Others, like me, were instructed to (and had to) telephone the front desk to verbally authorize a new room charge. I did this once from Magic Kingdom, and it took less than a minute.

You DO NOT need to physically get yourself to the Custom House for such a transaction.

And by the way, it doesn't need to occur in $1,000 increments ... $1,000 is the UPPER limit. You can choose for it to be any amount up to $1,000. You might find a CM who doesn't know this (such as the CM I spoke with on the phone when I authorized a second room charge at POF after my first reached its limit), but you just assure them it can be done, or ask them to check with their lead for confirmation, etc.

I ran into this when I was there in March -- I just went to the guest services desk at OPR (right by the game arcade and gift shops) and they did it very quickly and easily for me there! No problems, no worries! Very convenient!

I have'nt been following the contruction news at CBR. We arrive on Dec 26th and are staying until Jan 1. Will the contruction still be going on? One of my favorite things to do was to wake up early and cross the bridge from Jamaica stopping and looking out onto the lake while it was quiet. With the walls up, it doesn't look like it will not be possible.

Will it be automatically $1000 or will I have to insist that. At WL last year we were at $1500 and we did hit it, but I don't want to get to $500 and be blocked. I know at the values the limit is $500, do I need to ask? HELP!!???

Next question: We like to carry cash and I would like to know if my cash is safe in the room safe? I'm wondering if we need to leave it in the savings acct. and use the ATM instead, but I hate paying the fees!

If you set up a room charge and aren't asked for how much and you don't request a certain amount, it will be set at the default amount for that level of resort: $500 for Values, $1K for Moderates, $1.5K for Deluxes.

So at CBR, if nothing is said to the contrary, then when you set up a room charge it will be with a $1,000 limit.

If you lose the key they call in a locksmith. I will take pictures of the safe when I am there on Wednesday.
