We are staying at CBR on our first night (May 25th)and then moving to Ft. Wilderness. I would like to know when they are closing the pool. The pool is the main reason my dd wanted to stay there. When we first made the ressie, I saw the post about the pool being closed in 2008, so I thought we were okay. Today I read the post again see that it may be closed THIS YEAR. I hope we get some news soon. I know SafetyMom will post as soon as she knows for sure.

No doubt.

I know the main pool is fun but the quiet pools are great also.

We just came back from CBR in March, and we were told by CMs that the pool will close Jan. 2008 and re-open June 2008. We stay here every year, and this will fall within the time frame that we go. There are other pools around the resort in each "island" and there much more quiet then the main pool. The main pool is actually fairly small, they really need to do some updating to it. We'll probably stay at the WL next year because my husband does like to swim at the main pool and I just usually hang out there and make use of the banana cabana! Iam sure that whole "pool/bar" area there will be inconveinced during the construction period. No one mentioned anything about closing it down this year.

Surely SafetyMom got some info about the 2007 pool closing from somewhere and that is why it is posted at the top (#1). I'm wondering where this info came from and why she can't verify this now. What would lead her to post this information about the 2007 pool closing & then not be able to get an answer. It's just very confussing why somebody would post something and then say they haven't been able to verify the information.

It has been confirmed that the main pool will close in Jan. 2008 for a major refurbishment. There has been a rumor about the pool closing this summer for a short period. I have both up so that people are aware there may be one this summer. I have not been able to confirm that one.

If anyone needs to know for their vacation I would expect them to check with Caribbean Beach themselves.

Let me jump in here.. several of us have friends who work at Disney resorts (myself included) and have heard things about the CBR pool may be down for a short time this summer 'sometime'... possibly in May or June.

SafetyMom posted that information .. and I had posted it as well in other places.. we had both heard it as rumor we were trying to substantiate with an official source.

We figured better to tell you it *could* be coming out of an abundance of caution. Believe me.. we'd both be thrilled to be wrong about this! In addition to what we 'heard', there was at least one post from a member of these boards indicating they were told of a pool closure while making a booking for late May or early June.

We have not been able to get confirmation on that from any of the reliable channels we normally rely on. Nor can we get it denied, which of course would be equally helpful. But as we had now have had three sources of information indicating that something maybe going with the pool at CBR this summer.. that made it seem even more likely than not.

If there was any confusion on the reading of this rumored information as 'solid fact' or if you thought we were withholding information. I apologize. We'd love to tell you more -- but we've already said everything we know... which is to say .. (once again)

It may not be too. As soon as we know something more detailed or concrete .. we'll share!

Love this thread, i think its very nice you devote/devoted so much time to it. I'm going to CBR for the first time this april (2nd time ever to WDW) and I have to say I wouldn't have gone without this thread. Hehe, don't worry, if its not my fave I won't hold you responsible. I feel this thread let me know what to expect, good and bad, and let me make my own decision. It doesn't hurt that my gf is always wanting a beach vacation and that is just not my thing. I prefer Disney for escapism or cultural stuff for other vacations. This has Disney and Beaches .

I think in this thread more than any other, you personally (SM), answer questions single handedly and very expediently. Thanks for all the hard work. Hopefully everyone recognizes that this thread is communal and you add so much to it out of your own effort but that you are an individual, just like the rest of us, not a Disney employee. Thanks again!

I want to chime in as well ! I think you have compiled a wonderful reference for anyone wanting to stay at CBR. You helped me tremendously when I had my first stay at that resort in Dec and just want to say "thanks for the great job !"

Safety Mom - please don't change a thing about your reporting and posting. Without your info and knowledge, I would not have been able to plan in a week a trip to CBR. Everything you posted in this tread was spot on, and it made my planning that much easier. Kudos to you!

This is EXACTLY what I would have said if I would have thought of it first!! Safetymom is the whole reason we have chosen to stay at CBR is December! She is THE BEST when it comes to CBR info!
