Got back today from 8 days/7 nights at CBR, Trinidad North, Preferred location, not water view tho, CLOSE to bus stop and short walk to/from OPR! It was Great, really great, and our family had 5 rooms total (3305, 3306, 3309, 3310 & 3311)! Not a bad one in the group! :thumbsup2

shhhhhhhh :ssst: Our room got 3 towel animals, while the others got none. :confused3 Not meaning to :stir: , but they were MY firsts (and we shared). ;)

Excellent bell services at checkout today also! :thumbsup2

Our families split their time between the quiet pool and the OPR pool. Both were great.

safetymom helped us greatly with all her info posted here! Thank you! :goodvibes

I think I will request Jamaica 44. If i dont get it I won't be devastated. Saving Money is always on my mind, so I won't ask for preferred, I think it is more important for me to be near a quiet pool than near OPR. I just don't want to be in the romantic, quiet area, Trinidad something I forget.

As far as Aruba goes, I wasn't interested in that because I thought it was a smoking building... Is that true?
The good news is that in any village you are never far from that village's quiet pool.

Also keep in mind that the rooms that overlook or face the quiet pools are considered "water view" and thus are also reserved rooms that cost an extra $15-$20 per night (depending on season). So your odds are low of having a room that is right on a quiet pool (even though those are kinda rare in CBR, anyway, the quiet pools are usually down a very short path, slightly separated from the building clusters).

But like I said, the quiet pools are nearby ALL of the buildings in each village. I know that on the map in looks like Jamaica 44 is right on the quiet pool, but keep in mind that the other Jamaica buidings are still VERY close to that pool, also.

As far as smoking rooms, I THINK I recall reading that one of Aruba's six buildings is smoking, maybe 51??? ... Yes, I just did a search, and according to one of Safetymom's previous posts, Aruba 51 is CBR's only smoking-optional building.

ENJOY CBR!

As Cleve Rocks mentioned Aruba 51 is the only smoking optional building. I think the best view is the courtyard view on the first floor. It is great to walk out of your room and sit at the tables in the morning and evening.

I don't think water view is worth it unless you really get a direct view of the lake. Since you are in your room it is hard to see the water from your room. Unless you enjoy having everyone looking in your room you usually have the drapes closed.

Few questions....can you rent sailboats at CBR? I saw one in a picture that safetymom had posted. That would be a big plus with us, along with the water mice and bikes. The prefered rooms....do they have king beds?

No you can't rent sail boats. The price of the boats are in the first post on this FAQ. The preferred rooms could have doubles or kings. Did you book a king room, water view, or preferred room? They all cost the same.

We haven't booked anything yet. Just wondering if there are king beds available in the prefered section. I understand if I want a king bed, I should book a king bed. I was reading that the smoking section is in Aruba 51. Is this for the entire building or just a floor of that building? DH smokes like a chimney...yuck!! I just am trying to figure out if we should get a king room or a prefered room and hope we get a king bed.
If Arbua 51 is the only smoking building at CBR, then we'll get a king bed and request a smoking building. Thanks...too bad you can't rent sailboats there.

Yes there are king beds in the preferred area. But if you want a smoking room then you are limited to Aruba 51.

I posted this question in a separate thread as well, but did not get many responses (yet), so I thought I'd also try here as well. We always stay at the CBR - our favorite resort. I have 2 questions: 1.Do you know from which quiet pool you can see the Epcot fireworks? 2. Also we've heard the MK fireworks from the resort but never saw them. Is there a spot from which you can see the MK fireworks? Thank you in advance for all your help.

I don't know of any spot in CBR where you can see MK fireworks. I can hear them nightly but I live 12 miles from the park. I can't see them though.

I responded on the other thread about seeing Illuminations.

Last July I booked a "preferred room" at CBR and requested smoking. After reading all the posts about Aruba being the only smoking optional building, I had the travel agent call, to find out if we could still get a smoking room. The cast member she spoke to, said that there are still smoking rooms in the preferred section.
So what happens when we get there if they say that we cannot get a smoking room in the preferred area? Will they switch us to Aruba? What about the extra money I paid for preferred?

That would be a bit of a dilema. Good question though. The only thing available for our time is prefered. The location is awesome, but we need a king bed and a smoking room.

I swear I saw Wishes while walking across the bridge back to our room one night last week. I know it wasn't Illuminations because we watched that from outside the food court while eating a late dinner at 9pm, then went for swim.

Of course, it might have just been a heatstroke hallucination. :)

I have no idea if there are better places to watch IllumiNations, but we had a decent view from inside the quiet pool at Trinidad North, sitting on the steps at the shallow end.

We saw Epcot from the beach, main pool and from inside the food court! :thumbsup2 We also saw Fantasmic (from somewhere?). :confused3 As for quiet pools, I'd have to say Trinidad North (where we stayed), but also the building on the other side of OPR would probably work. MK fireworks?? Not a chance. It's too far away imo. Sorry.

Any areas in prefered to request or not request. Is the prefered areas just Martinique and Trinadad North?

Yes preferred is Martinique and Trinidad North. I don't think there is a bad location in those buildings.

Trinidad North and HALF of Martinique (buildings 24, 25 and 26) are preferred location.

I stayed in Trinidad North room 3340, a nice second floor corner room that connected with my in-laws' room, 3339. It was fine, VERY convenient to the bus stop, but it was pretty much as far from Old Port Royale as you can get and still be in a preferred location room. I don't have an actual complaint about it, it was fine, but if I were to go again I'd request Trinidad North 31 instead, which is closer to OPR than Bldg. 33. Also, after jogging around the resort I got the feeling that Martinique 24-25-26 are SLIGHTLY closer to OPR than the Trinidad North buildings. This is all just splitting hairs, of course, but what else is DISboards for???!!! :thumbsup2
