Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

I found the buses to not be consistent when using either front or back gate. MK buses used both gates; Studio buses used both gates. So that theory on which gate they use isn't always reliable.

When you are going TO a park the busses will always take the same route -- this is forced by the new computer system. When coming back from the park it can vary (for example, coming back from Magic Kingdom your bus may turn into an Epcot bus and enter near Jamaica). In any case, if you're using the internal busses you can always check with the bus driver to make sure they're going to stop where you are going.

Anyone just back that can tell if there is a hairwrap stand at CBR? DD wants to get a hairwrap when we arrive next Saturday, 9 more days  . thanks in advance.

Last year, there was one along with Tattoos at the OPR entrance near the pool. :thumbsup2

Many people find Trinidad South far from OPR but there are many others that actually request it. They find it more secluded and don't mind the walk. It is about a 10 minute walk or you can take the internal shuttle.

We stayed in TS our first visit to CBR and didn't mind it at all.

When we were there a week ago they had the tatoo station, but no one was around. We didn't see any hair wrapping station. I know there is one at the Port Orleans, just outside the lobby. If you really can't find one anywhere..

I thought I saw a hair braiding station last week, but now you have me wondering. I think there was one right near the pool outside of Port Royal, but I'm not definite.

Thank you LuvsTinker and ahecht for the info. Every time I pop in, I find something additional to add to my list. :thumbsup2

So, This bus stop would be for the internal shuttle and the bus going to
the parks? or does the internal shuttle have it's own stop?

Also, Does the Bus that is the Internal Shuttle have this on the Front banner--
like the busses that say: MK, AK, Epcot, DHS?

There is a bus stop at each resort and it is for all of the busses, wherever they are going. Each bus has a front banner telling you where it is going, so, yes, the Internal shuttle has a front banner telling you that it is the Internal shuttle. Sometimes, if it seemed like a long wait, we'd ask the drive of another bus if they were going by say, the OPR or the CH, and if they were we hopped on that bus instead of waiting for the internal shuttle. Hope that helps! :goodvibes

I just wanted to make sure I could find this thread again. We weren't even going to go to WDW next year but we started kicking the idea around last night. Today I went on the dis for the first time in a couple of months...then went on Disney website and totally decided were going back. As soon as I read about the Celebration theme...and read about the new Pirate rooms I was sold. So now were getting a standard view pirate room at CBR (assuming they are not already sold out...but I think I am safe this far out) and were going to be celebrating my Dh's 40th b-day!

I just need to learn all I can now about CBR...this is a new one for us!!!:dance3:

That's great! You're in the right place -- check out the very first post in the thread if you haven't already -- Safetymom keeps the thread updated with photos and info, and there are lots of great CBR fans posting here!! I can't wait to get back to CBR and see the pool in person!!:cool1:

I was wondering if anyone can confirm something for me. I was on the phone with a CM from CRO this morning and he said that there are no more designated smoking areas at CBR, or any of the resorts for that matter, and that DSAs are only at the theme parks. I was asking him to put a note on our reservation to request not being near a DSA, but it just doesn't sound right to me that there wouldn't be any smoking at all allowed. I know the guest rooms are non-smoking, but I would think they would still have places to accomodate smokers. Does anyone know? :confused3 TIA!

I think the CM was incorrect. I know at the CBR there are several different smoking locations.

Darn, now I am depressed. I just read a while different thread on how bad someone's trip was at CBR. Complaint mostly was the size of the place and that is what I am afraid of.

I wish I hadn't read that thread!

The CBR is a large resort but that's part of the appeal to our family.

The promenade that connects the villages and goes around the entire resort lake is just 1.4 miles long. Old Port Royale, where the food court, store, main pool, restaurant and store are located, is approximately one-half way around the promenade. So, no matter where you are located, you are never more than half that far from all the goings on. Hope that made sense!

Each village has their own bus stop so you are never far from a stop.

The resort grounds are so lush and pretty so the walks are very plesant.

I really wouldn't worry too much if I were you!

I have been to CBR many times since it first opened and absolutely love it. If you are staying in Aruba or Jamaica, you just walk across the lagoon to get to the main pool. The walk is not bad at all...and, because the main theme pool and the food court/shopping are in the same place, once you get there, you can stay all day. There are bathrooms and I believe a shower if you wish. Some of the other, smaller, moderate resorts do not have the main pool and food court together. From the looks of the map of CSR, it is quite a walk from the villages to the main pool, and from the main pool to the food court. You'll love it! As MickeysToonTown said, the walks are very pleasant.

We leave in just under 22 days. I do not feel ready for this vacation.
Any tips or hints to enjoying the resort?
I do fret a bit that our room might be too far from the food court.
But, I plan on faxing my "wish" for a ground floor room close to the food court on 10/16.

Any tips would be great :)

PS: Should we do the not so scary party? My dd is 7.
