Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Safetymom ~

I have a question for you concerning the pool construction. I stayed at CBR this past December and there were temporary walls up to block views of the pool construction. I just saw your most recent photos of the construction and I'm wondering if those walls are still up or is the construction in plain view? I remember your one set of photos where you took the pictures through a hole in the wall, but these pictures seemed like the construction areas were exposed. I'm just wondering how "bad" it will look when we go again in July. We always stay at CBR, but my son thinks we should switch resorts because of the construction. We never use the main pool so that is not an issue, it's more of a looks issue. I told him that if we stay in Arbua as we usually do, then it won't be that big of a deal and we will only see the construction when we walk over to Old Port Royale.

I never really thought of it when I booked the resort, but my Dad got him all worked up when we were talking about Disney World recently and my Dad thought that Disney should reduce their rates during the construction period!!

Thanks,

Carol

The walls are still up. There should be pictures of the walls in all those pictures that I took. The walk to OPR is quite nice now with the new boardwalk area.

We just got back from WDW (5/23-29/08) and stayed at CBR. It was my first time at CBR and we were VERY pleased. We were in Martinique Bldg. 25 and it was a GREAT location. We watched the fireworks from the beach a few nights and loved listening to the live music at the Banana Cabana. We never even saw or heard the construction. If you're not planning on using the main pool then it won't be an issue. Just go and HAVE A BLAST!! We are having some serious post-trip blues.

hi, on the uk dis, somebody has mentioned at pofq they have scales to weigh your luggage, just wondering do they have these at cbr, it will stop me worrying all the way to the airport if they do. planning on do a lot of shopping.

thanx andrea

Hi All -

Just curious - I just upgraded our room as a surprise Anniv present for my parents  who will be w/my DD6 & myself for our upcoming trip Sept 10th-18th. We stayed at ASMU last year and loved the activities by the pool and the Movies at nite (it was a nice way to unwind from the day). Does CBR offer something similar?

Thanks for any help!

Andrea,

I've just bought some travel scales from www.lakeland.co.uk. They cost £23.00 incl. postage and we have used a cheaper version before and wouldn't travel without them. Once you have weighed your cases just put them back in your case and they take up very little room. If CBR does have scales, I think you'll find them too far away from your room to be bothered to take them to the front desk for weighing. Hope this helps.

Maria

p.s. You'll love cbr. when are you there. We're back this Aug/Sept.

CBR is offering some activities and a movie on selected dates while the pool is being rebuilt. Whether or not that will be available when the pool is done is not known.

Are they redoing the jacuzzi too...or are they taking it out or leaving it be? It was really small.

Oh thats nice...thanks I was just curious bc I hadn't heard anything about the jacuzzi

maria & rossi we are flying out on the 23 aug from man airport for 2 weeks, thanx for info think i will just pack my own like you said, as i said i dont want to be worrying all the way to the airport

Thanks to the economic stimulus check (:cool1: ), we will be able to make our trip for Christmas. Last night I called Disney reservations to make another payment and requested a room in Jamaica, building 45. Do you think this is a good location without having to pay for preferred? Also, can you recommend a room # that's good?

I like the fact that Jamaica #45 is right across the water from Old Port Royale. How long does it take to cross the bridge?

I saw on another post, that you can see fireworks from CBR.
Are they from EPCOT? Were is the best place to see them at the
resort?

Thanks

Mike

I've been reading some recent reviews and some have been complaining about the rooms and bed bugs. Have you heard anything about this?

Also, I read the rooms might be getting a redo. Have you heard anything about this as well?

Thanks in advance!

Well, we booked to stay at CBR for the first time this August. I put in a general request for Aruba or Jamaica and a cornor room. We'll be happy anywhere though....we are soooooo excited!!!

I am going to be at CBR in August, please tell me that the bed bug story,
is not true?

Mike

Bed bugs can be anywhere.

And just because there are some in Room #2 doesn't mean there are any in Room #1 or Room #3.

There's probably no such thing as a hotel in a national resort area that has NEVER had bedbugs (since they usually are brought to the hotel by guests).

CBR has 2,112 rooms. 2,112 x 365 days = 770,880 room nights per year. If the average guest stays 5 nights, that works out to about 154,000 unique visits per year. Let's even say it's 100,000 per year.

If you've read 4 or 5 stories of bedbugs out of 100,000 visits, those are the best odds you'll find for just about anything in life.

Don't worry about it, everything will be just fine.:yay:
