Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Have to say I am loving this thread ever since I found out we are coming to CBR in 2 weeks and 2 days--YEAH!!!!! QUESTION: Where are the best picture spots at CBR? The lighthosue is obvious---but...are there other really great spots to look for?

Poll in a way---whci building should I ask for? I am really just letting the fates take me where ever, but just in case I get the farthest room on the 2nd floor of Trinidad, I'd like to maybe ask for something that's les of a hike.

:

For picture spots, the beaches along the water are beautiful, and so are the little courtyards.

For a village, I love both Jamaica and Aruba. I love the walk across the bridge to OPR and it is so relaxing and the music is great... they are both great locations if you don't want a "preferred" room. I have stayed in each of the villages, and really, I've liked them all. Enjoy!:goodvibes

:confused3 I am still nervous about CBR. I have only stayed at two resorts and loved one (CSR) and liked the other (SoG).

I have booked the prefered room, so my son can take advantage of the refill mugs. I am going when the pool should be finished.

My son picked the resort because of the colors and his pirate thing.

I love CSR because of the busses nothing more than that, I really never used the resort, like I will be this trip... we are going to MNSSHP and on that day I plan to stay at the resort relaxing. CBR looks relaxing.

Are the CBR busses as reliable? Where is the best stop to be for the magic kingdom? Should I request more than first floor? Will my daughters both under two disturb vacationers with tantrums that might come up?

Sorry if any of this has been asked before. :confused3

I think you guys will love your stay at the CBR. It's nice and quiet and so relaxing.

The preferred location rooms are close to Old Port Royale so the walk will not take long at all. It'll be very easy to use the refillable mugs.

The buildings are painted bright and cheerful colors which helps add to the atmosphere of the entire resort. The new pool is supposed to have the pirate theme to it so your son should like that. During our last two June trips, the store had a large selection of pirate themed items.

We never had a problem with the buses. They always ran efficiently. Each village has their own bus stop so no matter what building you are in, a bus stop is close by. There is no set bus stop within the CBR for the four theme parks. The buses will be marked for each specific theme park and they stop at all of the CBR bus stops.

We prefer an upstairs room but that is just us. With you have small children, you will probably like a first floor location. I like to put in a request for a courtyard view. The courtyards are really pretty and the view costs no extra money.

I wouldn't be too concerned about your little ones disturbing others during your stay. There are soooo many children at the Disney resorts and the occasional temper tantrum is fairly common. That being said, I can honestly say we never had any problems with our neighbors. It was always quiet and peaceful. If you think you're about to get hit with a tantrum, just take your little ones down to the beach (a close walk no matter your room location) and let them run off their frustration. Should work like a charm.

If you have more questions, just post them.

I was able to look through a hole in the screening for the one picture. They do have some forms built.

They are adding on to the building that was previously the bathrooms. The steel structure is next to that.

The bridge is gone between the two pool towers.

There has been progress since the last time. Quite a bit actually. I also didn't know about the coffee bar. Either I have missed it the last I don't know how many visits or it is new. :)

Do you know if the fort structure is being completely dismantled or are they incorporating some of it in the new design?

The site looks pretty big from that shot through the hole.

Thanks for the report! ~ducky

I think if they were going to remove the towers they would have done so by now. Everything else is cleared from the old pool area so I guess they are going to stay.

My 2 daughters and I will be staying at the CBR from June 8th through June 15th.

The girl who took our reservation requested the Barbados or Jamaica building so that we would be close to one of the 2 pools with slides.

First.... what are the chances of this request being honored?
Second.....Is the Banana Cabana open or are there pool bars at those 2 pools?

Thanks so much!
Debbie

Booked a preferred room in September. Does that get me location...ie. close to the main pool etc. or is it a water view that could be far far away? Anybody have any suggestions on what to "request" (not guaranteed of course!) with the preferred room? TIA

Your chances are pretty decent, especially for Barbados, I would think. Barbados is the second farthest village from Old Port Royale (the food court/shops hub), so I'd imagine it's not widely requested.

Banana Cabana is open during the pool area construction ... no temporary pool bars at any of the quiet pools.

At CBR, there are three types of upgrades that can be booked.

"Preferred location" means having a room in one of the 6 buildings closest to Old Port Royale. These are all 3 buildings in Trinidad North (31-32-33) and 3 of the 6 buildings in Martinique (24-25-26). There are no extra amenities in a preferred location; it's simply a matter of its location within the resort. If you closed the curtains, you'd have no way of knowing you were in a preferred location room versus a standard room

"Water view" means a room with a view of either Barefoot Bay (the lake) or a village quiet pool. Each village has a view of the lake and a quiet pool, so water view rooms can be anywhere in the resort.

"King-size bed" is pretty self-explanatory. These rooms (and there aren't many of them) are sprinkled throughout the resort ... they are not clustered in any one area.

If you paid for a preferred location room, then you are guaranteed a room in one of the 6 buildings noted above. Because some of those buildings also have some water views, there is a chance that your preferred room can also have a water view. And since some of the rooms in those 6 buildings have king-size beds, you might also get one of those, also (unless there are more than 2 people on your reservation).

Can any of you recommend an non-preferred room/building to me? We've decided to take the plunge and split our stay between POP and CBR. I thought I had my building all picked out, but then when I called learned the whole thing was preferred (Cabana 9b). So, what is a good, non-preferred building (quiet, close to bus stop, not too far from the main pool) for us?

Another question :)

Is Barbados too far a location to be considered desirable? I paid the for the water view upgrade not knowing that maybe that wasn't such a great idea. From what I understand, I can call back and request preferred.

In your opinion, would we enjoy having a pool view at Barbados/Jamaica more than having a preferred location. My youngest daughter is 13.

Thanks so much!

Are you sure you mean Caribbean Beach Resort, or are you talking about Coronado Springs Resort??? Cabanas 9B is at CSR, not CBR. The other thing that makes your question confusing is that Coronado Springs doesn't have any "preferred location" rooms.

As far as bus stops ... at CBR, CSR, and POR for that matter, there are multiple bus stops scattered throughout each resort, so there is no such thing as a room that is too far from a bus stop.

I have no idea what you like, so I have no idea which you'd like better.

I can tell you this much (and overall, it seems that most DISers feel this way) ... In my opinion, paying for water view at any of the 4 WDW Moderate resorts isn't worth the money.

I don't want to compare the resorts to a motel, but they are built in that very general style, meaning that your door and window(s) open onto exterior corridors. Therefore, in between you and anything you have a view of, is the walkway where people walk to get to and from their rooms. In other words, if you have your curtains wide open to enjoy the view, then everyone walking by has a great view of YOU! That being said, there is a vocal minority who LOVE water view rooms at CBR the other Mods.

If you decide to switch to a preferred location room, do it ASAP ... those rooms can sell out during busier times.
