Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

A friend of mine is wanting to stay at CBR. She has decided that she wants to stay in the Martinique section because of its proximity to Old Port Royale. It is preferred. Well, the only choices for her are Standard and Water View. If she chooses Water View is there a chance that she will get in the Martinique section? Or should she just choose Standard View and request the closest building to Old Port Royale at check-in?
If her only choices are standard and water view, that means that preferred location is sold out. That being said, there is a ZERO percent chance she will be placed in a room in Martinique buildings 24 or 25 or 26 (the 3 buildings in Martinique that are preferred location) no matter how much she asks at check-in. They won't bump someone who reserved it and paid for it, and then give it to someone who didn't pay for it and instead just walked up and asked for it.

All 6 villages have water view rooms. Her chances of getting a water view room in Martinique (the 3 non-preferred buildings) are neither increased nor decreased by booking a water view room.

I just booked a preferred room and requested Martinique (as opposed to Trinidad North). I was under the impression that all of Martinique was preferred - is it just certain buildings?

Hi again - all this preferred room talk leaves me with a question ... when I booked a few months ago I did ask for a preferred room but didn't specify either Martinique or Trinidad North....what are the ups / downs of the locations? I just assumed preferred was good enough and figured where ever we landed would be good. opinions ? Thanks!

There are more pool update pics posted today on this site:
http://wdwmagic.com/resorts_news.htm

It looks from the pics that the pirate ship slide does not empty into the main pool, but is in a separate area set back from the main pool. Is that structure part of a kiddie pool area? or a playground? Or is it going to be moved? Hmmm...

Hi guys, I posted earlier asking about the crowds at the CBR in August. We have never stayed there during this time period as wel always stay the last week of May and the first week of June. We arrive on 8/9 and depart on 8/16. Anybody know how crowded the resort will be? How about the buses?

The only room we could get was a preferred location. Since we have stayed in Martinique already, we requested Trinidad North just so we will be somewhere different.

Just be aware that the sidewalk to Trinidad North is closed off due to the pool construction. You take a detour into the parking lot.

SafetyMom?

Are any of the King Size rooms located in the preferred section? We have a King room reserved but don't want to be far from Port Royale.

Jim Hill is reporting here that Disney is removing the fridges from the CBR as they renovate the rooms. Anyone have confirmation of this?

This is the first time I'm seeing the photos of the renovated rooms. They look great! Hopefully my visit in September will be in a new room!

Has anyone heard which buildings these new Nemo rooms are in?

Love the photos posted by Jim Hill, but am wondering why they would decide to remove the refrigerators.

Lets say i get a new room, will i be able to hire a fridge ? Dont suppose anybody really knows the answer to this just yet.

The general rule is if there is no refrigerator in your room, you can contact Guest Services and they will bring you one (no charge for moderate resorts). I can't imagine this will change.

hi - we are staying @ CBR in a preferred room in October 08, when I booked I was told there is a fridge. When I called yesterday for dining reservations they confirmed my reservation top to bottom ... one of the items they mentioned was the 'in room fridge'. Hope this helps.

Pretty amazing...but not sure I'll like a Nemo decor - how does that tie in with the Tropical Caribbean Theme? So, went back and had another look...it has way too much of a value look. I expect a more upscale decor in a moderate, not Nemo. Very disappointed.

Trinidad South sounds interesting and good for families with more Family Suites, but more expensive than the value suites.

Not to be complaining, but we've loved CBR since it opened for it's bright, colorful vacation within a vacation feel...Nemo doesn't much do that for us. Fear it will feel like a value, rather than the beautiful moderate it's always been.

In the early days, CBR had a fridge in the rooms, a few yrs later they were removed, then a few years later replaced and now gone again? Does not make sense - the fridge is a nice plus for many guests. we've never used it, but so many guests do.

Oh, well....still, looking forward to first stay after the refurb!

Thanks much for the link!! A real treat!

I would love to hear from anyone who has requested one of the newly refurbed rooms. I am just wondering what they were told.
