Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Me too, I would love to hear if Disney has anything to say about this.

If it's not too busy here at the office this afternoon, I may just have to call Disney Travel and find out the scoop.

My thinking may be wrong, but I would think they would start the renovations in the more expensive rooms to please the customers paying more money. That's just my thoughts but who knows.

I'll post what I found out after I call.

Has anyone heard which buildings these new Nemo rooms are in?

Love the photos posted by Jim Hill, but am wondering why they would decide to remove the refrigerators.

They have not done any of these renovations. Jim Hill's articles are generally just rumors and this refurb has not been confirmed.
None of the rooms have been redone to look like Nemo. Could the room be true, of course, but at this point it is just a rumor.

I just looked at the wdwmagic.com website's photos from today. It looks like good progress is being made. This, however, just struck me as too funny:
A lot of the areas are now looking fairly close to completion. The official reopening date remains September 16 2008, but it is still hoped that the work will be completed ahead of completion allowing an early reopening.

I'd love to see them complete it before they complete it!

Helenk - I agree... Jim Hill's articles are usually speculation and sometimes do not come true. However, this "rumor" is affecting my vacation so as of today, he's my new best friend as I'm hoping this comes true for me!

Is that much of a hassle? If so, I will call aback and ask for Martinique.
No hassle at all ... in fact, it makes the walk slightly shorter.

[I've not been there during the construction, but I've seen photos and read descriptions, so I guess it's okay to share what I've seen on my computer screen.]

Rather than following the winding, concrete walkway that curves along the banks of the lake, at some point guests are shunted to a path that leads to the outer rim of the parking lot, right along the grassy area that abuts the usual Promendade walking path.

In other words, you are brought to the nearest edge of the parking lot ... it's not like anyone has to dodge traffic. It is very clearly marked. And like I said, it makes it a slightly more direct walking route, which those with sore feet and ankles might like to hear. When walking from Trinidad 33 (the farthest out of the 3 Trinidad North buildings), I sometimes opted to walk through the parking lot in order to walk in a sraight line rather than wend my way along the contours of the lake (and this was when there was NO construction going on).

So like I said, it can't see that the walk is a hassle.

I'm just curious after looking at the photos of the renovated rooms, if it's just a rumour, are these photos fake? :confused3

Read the article: there are pictures of one of the renovated rooms.

I truly doubt those photos at Jim Hill are fake. Look carefully at the TV one...that sure looks like a Disney ice bucket to me...but I'm not a tin hat person, either.
Actually the more interesting thing about all this is whether the numbers are true.
He says 34 have already been done, then another 64, and eventually a total of
1738. That's a lot of Nemo rooms. :rotfl:

I'm still wondering about the frig situation. Are they totally ditching refrigerators, or just replacing the old ones?

That seems to be an older TV, not a new one..

Maybe these are test rooms. Several years ago on our annual Polynesian summer stay we had a room in then Ohau (Tokelau) with 2 sinks outside the bathroom (we had one two yrs in a row). None of the rooms exist now. Tikiman was hoping we had a photo because he'd heard about those rooms, but had never seen one.

Fingers crossed, that's what's going on with CBR...that bed is awfully close the wall...CBR beds have space between the wall and bed - a great area for suitcases :) That sure is a CBR carpet...but why not a new carpet with a big rfeurb? Doesn't make too much sense.:confused3

With all due respect, if you do not know anyone with 'inside' info then you do not know anymore than the rest of us, so why such an absolute response?

I am going to give a jingle to someone I know with a few connections ::yes::

I'm skeptical but that is CBR's carpet. Is that carpet in any other WDW rooms? :confused3

Nope! We've stayed at every resort, except All Stars and that is for sure CBR carpet. We love that carpet...but as I mentioned in the above post..maybe a test room...but a fully refurbished room would have new carpet...and the dresser is exactly the same color as now.

Such suspense!!!!:surfweb:

Does someone have a map of CBR showing which buildings are preferred and which are standard?

I would like to make a reservation for a standard room but be as close to the main pool as possible since we will not be going to theme parks just hanging around the pool.

Thank you

Back behind the CBR they used to have a bunch of test rooms set up where they would mock up new decor for the different resorts (not just the CBR). Perhaps that is where these pics came from. It is possible that this test room looked like this but changes will be made when they are remodeling the rooms. Or this could be from a remodeled room. Who knows. I was hoping that the Pirates theme would be done thorough out the resort and hopefully in a subtle manner.

You could try asking for Aruba or Jamaica and hope for a room close to the bridge which will be close to the main pool.

There are preferred bldgs. in Martinque and we've stayed in non-preferred rooms in Martinque and they were not any closer to main pool than our last stay in Jamaica, bldg. 43.

The preferred location rooms are Buildings 24-25-26 in Martinique and Buildings 31-32-33 in Trinidad North.

Thank you both for the info. Now that I know where the preferred buildings are I can try and figure out what a great standard location would be.

I am thinking that Martinique building 22 would be great choice.

Anyone ever request this building and get it?

Thank you

Yes!! That's a great location - 1st bus stop...not too far from OPR - we even had a room one yr very close to the bus stop, but the walk to OPR was fine...just wandered through the paths of the resort and it was maybe a 5/6 mins walk.

One of my favorites- wish I could remember the room number...corner room, about 2 mins from the bus stop :)

:goodvibes

By the looks at today's pool photos (from WDWMagic) and last weeks photos (from SafetyMom), the children's water structure appears to be a AquaPlay 200 from Whitewater. You can see photos and Schematic of similar units here:

http://www.whitewaterwest.com/products.php?product=AquaPlay
(I can't give you a direct link - just click on AP200)

You'll notice this new attraction will have a tipping bucket, twist slide and pair of slides. It will also have spray nozzles and jets.

This structure is similar to the Nickelodeon resort found in Orlando. This will be a great addition to the new pool area!

I myself am excited to see this resort get so much attention.

Yeah-I think I had that room once, too!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Sheash-I was gone one day and this thread jumped 40 posts!!
I personally don't think I'd care to stay in a Nemo room. We go to CBR for the TROPICAL decor. You might talk me into Pirates but not Nemo. NO WAY!!!!
I am excited about the new pool and slide. September --Get here already!!!
