We have stayed at POR/AB section twice & LOVED IT !!!
But, wanted to try a different moderate this time around.
I've read & heard alot about how GIGANTIC CBR is and how it takes forever to get off the resort property with all the bus stops.
Is It that much larger & spread out then POR, cause POR is kind of large too.
Just trying to prepare myself & picture it.

Thanks for replies & feedback !!
:boat: :genie:

I have stayed at both as well. CBR is a bit bigger but the issue is that there are more bus stops. Personally I don't mind so much as the resort is pretty and you can enjoy driving around it. On they way home on a late night it is not quite as fun. It seems to me it would be about the same as if both POR resorts were sharing buses and you had to sit through all the stops.

We just booked today for CBR and I can't wait. We did book a preferred room as I don't want to have to walk from one end of the resort up to the main building or the pool. I've got some health problems so I need that convenience.

We are so looking forward to this and wanted to stay here this spring but due to the pool closure we nixed that plan.

DS (4) doesn't know about the trip and we're planning on keeping it a secret as long as possible or we won't here the end of it.

Hi all ... new to this whole chat thing - have no clue what all these codes mean but I think I will manage, I am kinda slow but figure I will catch on, be kind while I learn!!! We are going to CBR 10/7 - 14th. Have not stayed on property since I was single (15 + years!) this time I am going with husband and kids 11 and 7. The kids are so excited (so am I!). Two things that are on my mind 1. I selected a preferred room - was this wise? what is the biggest up side of doing this 2. The long ride to the parks due to the size of the resort. Can anyone reply to these 'concerns', hoping someone that has been recently would know how much of a damper (if any) the bus ride puts on the experience etc.

Thanks !

:welcome: to The DIS!

At CBR, "preferred location" means being in a room relatively close to Old Port Royale (OPR), the complex that has the main pool, food court, restaurant, shops, arcade, Banana Cabana (outdoor bar), and water sports rentals. This means less of a walk to get to OPR.

CBR has 33 numbered buildings contained in 6 villages. Each village is named after an island. All 3 buildings in Trinidad North and 3 of the 6 buildings in Martinique are the preferred locations. They flank OPR.

The buses to the parks make a total of 7 stops within the resort before leaving (one stop at each island, plus a stop at OPR). It's not really a pain. If you think about it, loading 50 people onto a bus at 7 stops doesn't take substantially longer than loading an unruly crowd of 50 people at a single stop.

All of the Moderate resorts have multiple stops. To me this is an advantage over the Value resorts, which each have only one main stop. At the Moderates, you're never very far from a bus stop ... at the Values, if you are way at the back of the resort then you have a good hike just to get to a bus and back.

CBR is a wonderful place. ENJOY!

Thanks a million, we are getting excited  . Have not been in 8 years. My oldest (now 11) was too little to remember anything and our youngest (7) wasn't here yet. Just want everything to be as perfect as I can make it, Disney will make that easy I suppose! I am told the pool is on schedule to be complete a few weeks before we arrive so I am hoping for good pool installing weather all summer! Thanks again.

Hey! We're looking for where we are gonna stay spring break 2009 and I was looking at this resort and have a question. Does CBR share buses with any other resort??
Thanks for your time!!:)

It doesn't share, but there are 7 bus stops within CBR.

Safetymom, thanks for the pictures. They are wonderful, my DDs are going to be so excited to swim in the new pool.

Thanks so much for posting the photos. :thumbsup2

It's looking good, does anyone know if there's going to be a hot tub?

Wow! Things are really starting to take shape! How exciting! It looks like they've made a lot of progress since the last pics that came out. The zero depth entry was something I was really hoping for. I'm particularaly excited to see the the structure with the barrel and pirate flag. You can see where it will fit in with the pirate ship/slide structure in the concept art that was posted way back. (below)
