Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Ok, my problem is now solved. I got up early this morning and added a day on the end and then a pirate room water view popped up as available. I called immediately and the guy said they had one that was cancelled and I grabbed it. Now we have two beds but an extra day. Several hundred dollars more but at least I have two beds now..:thumbsup2

I checked CSR and they are only offering a king too. There is only two of us (myself & 9 year old) but I just cannot sleep in the same bed as him as he is a kicker. I am bummed now and hate to have to cancel but I only have until Feb 10 before they started charging cancellation penalties.

I was wondering if the CBR had a laundry service or is it coin operated laundrymat????Trying to figure out packing for 5 people (AHHHHHH)

We will be doing our own laundry while there. They do have coin operated washers and dryers. :laundy: I do not know if they have a laundry service.

The coin-op washers and dryers are pretty conveniently located ... each village has some, inside a little building right next to each village's quiet pool. I did laundry one night while I had the kids at the pool with me. I wheeled it there in one of our wheeled suitcases, and then folded it and repacked the suitcase for the walk back to the room.

We prefer to pack light and do laundry mid-way through the trip one night when we wouldn't be out late at a park, anyway (2 young kids).

FYI: I called to make a room request last night at CB for my upcoming trip. I thought I would share here.

One of my requests was for a renovated room, and I was told the room renovation was complete.

I think a poster asked about this earlier either on this thread or on one of the others pertaining to CB.

I will take a ride over and check that. The dept. you called is in a call center. I don't know that I would believe them.

Yes, they do have a laundry service. Put it in the bag, hit the laundry button on the phone and it is ready later that day. I cannot remember the cost!

I remember that we used the coin operated machines a few years ago and the cost was about $4/5 per load for washing and drying and that is considering that we brought our own detergent and fabric softner. Plus as conveniently located as they are, it is still time consuming to use the coin operated laundry. If you must do laundry go for the service, I say, especially if you cleaning for 5!!!!!:laundy:

I called 407-934-3400. I thought that was the hotel.

Is there a number directly at the hotel?

Thanks for checking on it. Please let us know.

While Disney publishes a number for each resort, there is no way to directly call any of the resorts. When you call that number for CBR, the call goes through to the very unimaginatively named Main Switchboard. The rep knows you called the CBR number, so he/she answers as if he/she is at CBR, but that's just an illusion. They are trained to be gate-keepers, to handle calls themselves and to let through calls only when they can't (or think they can't) handle the question or situation. They can put you on hold, call the resort, and ask them whether they (the resort) wants to handle your call or not.

Actually they did put me on hold and I gave my specific requests to another person. What I can't remember is which person told me that the renovation was finished, the first person or the second.

They really are tricky, aren't they.

Thanks for the explanation. I guess I am too gullible.

We're booked for Apil 4-11 at CBR in a King Room. CSR also only had King Rooms. I booked directly on Disney's website and it gave me both resorts with King Rooms as options. I figured $15/day for rollaway was better than an extra $800 to upgrade to a deluxe hotel. Do you really think I won't be able to get a rollaway?

Has anyone had a rollaway in a King Room. My 2 year old is too big for the pack-n-play they call a crib.

Do you think I might be able to upgrade to a preferred room or switch to a double room when I get there? They have double rooms available, but not for the 4/3 promotion?

You should be fine getting a roll-away, 2 year olds don't really count in the occupancy of the room. It is only if you had more then 2 people that are above 3 years old.

I do not believe there are towels at the pools. However you can take your room towels. This might vary by resort to be honest. I know for CBR, it says no towels at pools:

The Caribbean Beach Resort main pool is found at Old Port Royale and is themed to resemble an old Spanish-style Caribbean fort complete with pirates' cannons and stone walls. There is a water slide, kiddie pool and spa here as well. In addition to the main pool, each
village has its own quiet pool (including two at Trinidad, one for the North building and one for the South), and a white sand beach with hammocks and a playground.

TIP: Pool towels are not available, bring your room towels with you when using the pool facilities.

I called this morning to get a rollaway bed, but they said they only offer cribs now. I am not sure how accurate this is but I went ahead and ordered an aero bed for our two year old.

I was under the impression that all moderate resorts have pool towels at the main pool, but not at the quiet pool. This was our experience at POR. I could be wrong, but I would think the same would be true for CBR.

Is the construction completely finished at CBR? I started looking at this thread from the beginning and it looked like there was a lot going on. Also, how far along are they with the room refurbs?

We'll be there end of April, beginning of May and are requesting a room in Martinique....

Martinique rooms are finished; Only TS will have pirate rooms (not sure if they are all complete)

The main pool area and Pirate ship water play area is all complete.

I don't believe all Nemo rooms are complete yet but you shouldn't see any construction going on.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear!

Thanks.
