Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Do the beds slide at CBR? At POR we were able to move one bed against the wall for my DS who is too big for a crib, but too little to truse not tumbling out of the bed or standing in the night and falling over the bed rails.

I didn't do a room request when I booked. I didn't realize how big it was when I called. I got the CBR because I had a code and only a few rooms were left so I didn't have a lot of time to research anything before I made the reservation. Should I have and can I still do that since we won't be there until December?

Also, what kind of request should we make? I think DH would like to be near the food area but other than that I have no idea. I don't know if we are taking the buses to the park or driving so Im not sure if being near the stop is something we need.

Can anyone help explain the different areas to me? TIA!! :)

Something special is happening with the pool, the cm said she could not tell me but she said it will be great. I think it's good. Could someone else find out what is going on with the pool?

They are doing a refurb on the Port Royale Pool and adding a pirate ship, more slides n' stuff. (Safety Mom's site has great info on this) But all the other village pools are open and some have added slides during the refurb. We'll be therein 42 days!!! CAN'T WAIT!!! :cheer2:

CBR has 6 "villages" (each named for a Caribbean island) that have guest rooms. All of them have 6 buildings, except for one, Trinidad North, which has only 3 buildings.

Each village has its own bus stop and its own pool, so you can never be too far from a bus stop or a pool.

Old Port Royale is the complex that has the main pool, food court, restaurant, shops, arcade, etc. It does NOT have the front desk ... that's located in a different building called the Custom House.

If you want one of the closest buildings to Old Port Royale, you have to pay extra. It's called "preferred location." Paying and reserving a preferred location room guarantees you'll be in one of the 6 buildings closest to OPR.

It won't do much good to simply request to be near the food court, as everyone who's paid for the privilege is in line ahead of you.

Have you looked through this thread? You may find a lot of useful info!

Is there such a thing as preferred water view? When we booked the only categories available were preferred or water view since standard was sold out. The price was the same so we opted for preferred location since the water view doesn't mean too much without a balcony.

Anyhow, I did request to be "near a playground" since we have a little guy. But I was just wondering...more for the sake of wondering than any real reason, but since there is water view and there is preferred location what are the water view rooms in preferred locations considered to be? Do they just go to whichever of the two categories needs them?

I fly in pretty late, so I will be arriving on the Magical Express after the resort buses have stopped runnung for the day. If I end up with a room in Trinidad South will I have to walk there in the middle of the night or do they drive you and your bags to your room like the do at CSR? My only concern is that I travel alone with a young child (who will be fast asleep) and that might be quite the trek with my sleepy son and my 2 carry-on bags to walk there from the custom house.

They have a van and will drop you and all of your baggage off at your door if you arrive after the busses stop running.

Are there any quiet locations in the preferred section?

Also....Safetymom do you think the main pool will be open by Oct 9th?

How far of a walk would you say the farthest location to the main pool is?
Thanks
Kerri

I don't think there are any noisy sections at CBR so any place would be fine.

Unless we have a bad summer with rain or hurricanes I don't see why the pool wouldn't be open in Oct. It is supposed to open in Sept. Keep check the first post of this thread for any updates.

Unless you are in Trinidad South the walk from the furthest point might be 10 minutes.

Thanks....I'm debating between CSR and CBR for 3 nights before my DVC stay. I thought the new pool area at CBR would be awesome. :goodvibes

I agree with Safetymom - I don't think there are any noisy sections. I see in your siggy that you've been to WL -- we have also, and when we visited WL during our last CBR stay, we noticed how noisy the lobby area and pool area were compared to CBR. I think one of the great things about CBR is that the rooms are kind of spread out -- making it quieter by the rooms!

Between CSR and CBR, it seems like there are lots of people who love each one and it just comes down to theming. Plus, the idea of having a built-in gratuity at the CSR food court makes me cringe. I love the CBR food court, the atmosphere and everything about it, and it's our favorite!:thumbsup2

I agree completely. In fact I'm changing our ressie from POFQ to CBR for Dec. tonight as soon as DH gets home from work. I just can't get happy about POFQ like I can CBR!!!:yay:

I'm starting to get excited about CBR....I'm going to read this whole thread now.
I just checked Buzz's site and CSR will start room rehabs in Oct when I want to go.
Has CBR rooms been rehabbed lately or are they doing that too.
I would love to book CBR with the new pool and no rehabs going on.

Also do you think my chances of getting a connecting room on the top floor is good?
Thanks
Kerri

edit....Are there Ice Machines in every building?
Thanks

Hi, We are arriving at CBR on the evening of 9/14. I read the main pool was scheduled to reopen on 9/15. I know in the real world ALL construction projects take longer than expected. From your experience do construction projects magicallypixiedust: finish on time at Disney?:wizard:

Unless we have a bad summer I am pretty sure it will open on time or earlier. Disney is pretty good about opening when stated. Keep checking the first post for updates.

I just got back from CBR on Sunday and let me just say that if you are told your in Trinidad South when you check in, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! I felt like I was being punished becuase the building was so far away from everything.

This is why I pay for preferred at CBR, it puts me close to everything at the resort.

I thought I'd ask this here first, we'll be at WDW before check in time at POR, and I thought we'd wander over to CBR for lunch. What can anyone recommend? Is this a good place to eat? I'm thinking of staying here on our next trip and want to get a "look see" at the place.
