What makes you go back to CB? Is it price? Grounds? Busses? Looking forward to your reasons for choice AND your trip report when you return! :)

That's an interesting question. I think for us it largely because CBR was our first Disney resort, way back when. We love the theming and especially the landscaping. We usually stay in a king room, so bed size is not an issue, but was when we stayed in standard rooms a few times. To me the rooms do seem larger and are quite bright, I don't like a lot of dark colours and furnishings. There are lots of choices as far as location goes. We usually get a room really close to the bus stop, which is nice coming back from the parks late at night when you're tired and your feet are sore. Walking around the resort is not an issue as we usually do that at the start of our day, not the end. Then there are the memories. Like watching a movie on "the island" when our daughters were younger and watching the Epcot fireworks going off at the same time. We have loads more like that. So yeah, we have a few reasons for going back over and over. :)

I would go back to cbr because I love the tropical theming lush landscape, lake and sand beaches. Plus the location seems very central. Food court and buses don't really matter - I'm happy with a morning pastry from the food court. And buses seem about the same as most other resorts. Haven't stayed since the pool was renovated but the location of the pool is nice. Cbr and por are my favourite moderate resorts as the theming is perfect. :thumbsup2

One week from today we will be at CBR for our 2nd anniversary trip. I can't wait! We stayed there 3 years ago and loved it. I went for early morning runs around the lake and I remember thinking how truly beautiful the resort was.

We just love the theming. It's so big that even if it's packed, you'd never know. Love the beaches, the hammocks, the Cay... It's so peaceful in the mornings. We always do preferred so the food court is close and we only do breakfast there so it's almost never busy. 11 days until arrival for the Summit :)

Just wanted to add something about Shutters.

We were at CBR for our Spring Break maybe 2 weeks ago now, and decided to go to Shutters the night we arrived. I hadn't been there for dinner in years.

It was EXCELLENT. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Really, it was super good. I'd recommend it for sure. Everything was delicious. Especially the special fish, and the steak. I also really liked the empanadas and the salads.

We will be back!

Thanks for posting the mini-review of Shutters. You don't read many reviews from the restaurant.

So excited for you! We stayed in POR in Feb. for a week but we just keep wanting to go back to CB which has come to be our fav. :thumbsup2

The price and the theme. Being from crappy ole Indiana, I love anything beach related! My first choice is Beach Club but since we can't afford that most of the time, CBR is a nice substitute. I am taking a trip in a couple weeks with my mom and younger 2 kids so we are able to stay at CBR. I'm going to be sad if the rehab doesn't involve a Murphy bed because our family of 5 will have to stay elsewhere. I didn't like POR at all so I don't know what we will do :(

We usually eat at shutters on our first and last nights at CBR but didn't this year (about the same time you were there, actually) because we had off resort reservations with someone else we were meeting at WDW. Last year it was excellent as well and we were chatting with another couple who had come over from their resort to eat there as they had heard some recent good reviews of Shutters. Must make a point of visiting next time. Thanks for the review.:)

DH loves the bright colors and island themes. I love that he gets the feel of a beach trip without actually going to the beach:rotfl2:

And we've always had a good experience at CBR - no matter who we're with or what rooms we get. Cannot say that for any of the other resorts we've stayed at (POR, POP, ASMovies - although Movies is our second favorite)

We are so positive about CBR that when we go this fall for our 10th anniversary, we may just stay there instead of splurging for a deluxe, which was my original plan.

We've stayed at the CBR almost a dozen times and we love everything about it. We are counting down the days until we are there for a lovely two whole weeks!

Okay we got waterview room reservation through Orbitz, I just got off phone with them, had them call Disney for packnplay and bed rail and request first floor room. Should I still go and do online checkin or just wait until we get there? We really want near a beach with a playground since we'll have two toddlers with us.

You can do online check in if you want to. It doesn't have any affect on whether you get your requests or not. And since you have already made your requests, you can just skip that section of the online check in process if you do decide to do it.

One thing I always like to do is call the main reservation line 7-10 days prior to our arrival and ask the CM to read back to me any room requests on my reservation. It just makes me feel better that they are there.:thumbsup2

Just arrived at our room!!!

We absolutely scored on our location. We're in Martinique 22. We had a water view reservation, so we ended up with a corner room right by the beach. There's a hammock about 30 feet from our door.

At check in, FWIW, the person at the counter said they haven't started the refurb yet.

Yay for arriving safe and sound and getting such a great location! Thanks for the update on the refurb. Have a fabulous time!

Awesome you had a great location! Bummer on the refurb.

We're also waiting to hear about the refurb. We will be at CBR in October and it would be lovely to have a "new" room. I can dream, right?:cloud9::cloud9:

I'm hoping that they will sleep 5 as well!

:goodvibes

Ok, so DH, DDs and I have stayed at CBR several times but we have always booked and stayed in Preferred, Martinique 26 is our fav!!! So, we are going during a very slow time of the year, August 25-29th (I've gotten every single ADR I wanted with several times to choose from, so I know it will be slow), that having been said, we are currently booked with a STD room at POFQ because everything is close to the main bldg. but what are our chances of getting Martinique 24-26 if we request it and not book it? I know its only a request and I'm not looking for a guarantee, just what are the odds? Has anyone ever done this before and been lucky? Just curious? I'd love to stay at CBR and would love Martinique, but just can't justify Pref. Booking, since we will be doing a land and sea next Spring Break for DDs Graduation Present.
